Split Lip Rayfield will be opening for Reverend Horton Heat at Republik in Calgary on August 4th.
I advise anyone who is a music fan to attend and not to miss the opening act. They lost a big part of the band when co-founder and guitarist Kirk Rundstrom died a couple of years ago from esophogeal cancer (never smoked) but they are still going strong and well worth the price of admission. These guys are absolute witches on their instruments. If one wanted to pigeon hole them into a genre I would create a new one called speed bluegrass.
Plenty of great stuff on youtube, a lot of it with Kirk.

If only I did...I checked the website I'm not sure if the Amex presale is for a certain type of card. Perhaps the gold? I'm not sure. I've never tried it to tell you the truth.
Do you have a link to the AMEX presale or is it just the main ticketmaster page?
If I can get tickets tomorrow i'm sure I could get a ticket for you if you wanted and you can pay me back. Let me know how many and what price range or send me a PM.

I believe it's just the main ticketmaster page. Thanks so much for your generous offer . I have a pal that's going to pick them up with their Amex for a few of us.
I hope the selection is decent and you get the tickets you'd like. Thanks again.

Sweet thanks for the heads up. Is the stand-up base made out of a gas tank? I can't wait for this show...

No problem.
Seems like the AMEX presale is only for certain venues. Not Vancouver. Unless you want to buy $500 VIP tickets which I am tempted to do but I know none of my friends would go for.

It is!
I've been listening to their Never Make It Home CD non-stop for the last week. Awesome stuff.

So I have a Roger Waters presale link for the Tacoma show. It's completely useless to me and can be had by anyone who wants to PM me their email address.
EDIT: I'd also happily trade it for the Vancouver presale.
Folk Fest lineup announced today. I may use it as an excuse to come for a visit. Other than being able to drink Sangria in the park, other reasons to go are:
Michael Franti
The Swell Season
The Avett Brothers
Stars
Corb Lund
Axis of Conversation
The Cat Empire
Dojo Workhorse (this is the side project from The Dudes)
Jon and Roy
Man Man
Ohbijou
Finley Quaye
Ian Tyson

Also Joe Henry. He's is the best american singer songwriter right now, and it's really amazing that he's coming to Calgary. My wife and I have rescheduled our summer vacation schedule around the folk festival after learning that he's performing here.
