Despite the band's reputation for a somewhat loose and shifting lineup, the group's core members--including Dan Behar and Neko Case [ tickets ]--are expected to be on hand for the fall trek

Billy Joel Calgary bound
Pop icon Billy Joel will return to Calgary for the first time in 17 years for a concert at the Saddledome on Nov. 5, promoters announced Monday.
Joel, whose last jaunt into Calgary on Aug. 2, 1990 sold out with 17,000 fans packing the Saddledome, is hoping for the same bit of magic as he promotes his latest album, All My Life, his first new piece of pop music since 1993's Grammy nominated River of Dreams.
Tickets for this show are $149, $99 and $69 plus service charges, available at Ticketmaster Sept. 21 after 10 a.m. No opening guest for this concert has yet been announced.
Just went to see Gov't Mule last week here in NB.. actully my 3rd time seeing them... not sure if they are heading west or not but it is a great show and worth checking out for sure.

Ween! Most excellent. Thanks for letting me know. I just saw the F_cking Champs last week and the Supersuckers coming next week. Ween will be another good one...
Grabbed some Chris Cornell tickets a while ago, that will be a good show. Same with the weakerthans.
Last time I saw Rob Zombie was 8 years ago, don't really care for the solo material but I figure he'll play a few White Zombie songs so I'm going to check it out.
Just got my tickets for Type O in New Jersey, very stoked for that.
Anyone seen a show at Flames Central yet? Looks like they could rival the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver with the set-up they have, but how is the sound?
Just got Ween tix!! They were killer last time. Thanks for the heads up whoever posted. It was hard to find the tickets. Its not listed on Flames central, and its not listed properly on ticketmaster. but its Pure Guava now!
K'naan October 6th at the Jack Singer for those who are interested...part of the BD&P world music series. I'm looking forward to this, as it should be a great show.

Saw The Trews there during Stampede. Sat in the upper levels, which wasn't too bad. The lower level looked pretty good too. The acoustics were good, imo.

Not even close. The Commodore is far superior for a live music event. I say that wishing it wasn't true. For years I have been hoping that something similair to the Commodore would open in Calgary. The new Mac Hall certainly didn't live up to expectations.
Final Fantasy - is that the guy who does crazy looping things with....some string instrument? I can't recall.
That would be him.
I currently have tickets to Built to Spill, Final Fantasy and Video Games Live and I'm probably going to get tickets to Sunet Rubdown. I'd like to get tickets to The New Pornographers, Do Make Say Think and The Weakerthans but I just don't have the time/cash.
The last Bright Eyes show at Mac hall was brutal. The most disapointing concert I've been to. I hope for your sake, things are better this time around.
