Hawks had decided to change their playing style after spending two or three days in attempts to get scoring winger for one of their blueliners. The closest one was Huselius. The only reason Souray for Huselius deal failed through was that Hawks couldn’t give Islanders $0,5 cash to keep them under salary cap.
“I’ve received a team with all 12 mils traded away and I have to deal with it”, said Hawks GM Pointman. “Surely Hawks could use such a player like Huselius, but we were fine without him and we will carry on without him now.”
At this point Hawks assembled tremendous defensive group of Souray, Salo, Salei, Van Ryn, Sauer and Jillson.
“It might not be the best defense in the league, but it’s definitely the best defense among teams who will compete for 6th-8th spots”, said Pointman. “However, our forwards are not exactly top-notch. That’s why we gotta play trap hockey”.
Hawks are confident, that their 20-seats arena will be sold-out for all games despite playing boring hockey.
With players like Pahlsson and Walz, Hawks surely won’t have much trouble to adjust to new system. All Hawks blueliners aside from Sauer and maybe Salei have terrific transition game and Hawks forwards always were one of the fastest in the league.
“Hawks game will be based on speed, transition game and tough defense. It will be something like Calgary Flames (aside from the fact that Flames didn't play exactly trap). And you know what, we just acquired Finnish goalie, who failed to get starter job on his old team.”

Hmmmm.
The Wild are projected to compete for the 6th to 8th spot.
Our blueline consists of
Mattias Ohlund - 78 OVR
Will "The Thrill" Mitchell - 71 OVR
Captain Dan McGillis - 73 OVR
Yannik Tremblay - 74 OVR
Glen Wesley (and his cane) - 68
Jason Doig - 67
Thus, the Wild take issue with the Hawks claims that they have the "best defense among teams who will compete for the 6th-8th spots".
Unless of course you think the Wild are going to be competing for a spot higher than that. In which case we thank you.
Regardless, OV is VERY misleading. I can never get why Ben Clymer has higher OV than Mike Van Ryn. They both play for me and Van Ryn is MUCH more valuable in this sim (let alone NHL).
And actually you yourself offered 73 OV McGillis for 71 OV Souray. And Islanders had prefered to deal for 71 OV Souray rather than 73 OV McGillis. So OV doesn't tell the whole picture (if it tells any picture at all).

Wild will compete for 1-3 in conference, IMO.

Wild 1-3 eh?
Wow. Well I hope you're right. But I'll be thrilled if I just get a playoff spot.
Btw, Hawks defense is deeper. Wesley would never be top 6 in Hawks, let alone Doig (even though I've offered 3rd for him a week ago). You have better top four, but depth-wise I would take Hawks D. Van Ryn-Sauer is a hell of a 3rd pair.
Oilers, Ducks, Predators, Kings, Wild will surely make playoffs.
3 of Flames, Coyotes, Jackets, Wings and Sharks will take the rest spots. Right now Hawks are to take a long shot and likely will end up at 9-12. But a couple of trades coulda turn them into legitimat playoff contender.

Not only the best defence out of the cellar dwellars but the best damn D this side of the rockies.
Errrrr I guess I should say something good about Wings for the sake of my trade offer
Wings defense is awesome, but can surely use one more All-Star Dman with good size. I also think that Red Wings should get rid of one of their two-way wingers, who is not scoring many points this season. That's all they need to make playoffs
Jokes aside, I don't see how can anything with Commodore in top 6 be better than Hawks D group. The strength of Hawks defense is that there is no weak link there.

No surprise.
I remember you've called me on that and we were talking for awhile. Then we've decided to talk about it tomorrow. Next day I called you and you said you just forgot about that deal. I'm sure you forgot about it again.

Don't you realize, that man who is constantly blinking is not looking as clever as he could?
Sorry I should have realized. Maybe I should stop blinking altogether...would that make me as smart as you?
It is clear to me that you are a genius after the changes you have made to your team. Maybe we can set up a tutoring session so that you can enlighten me with your wisdom?
The key thing is that you should always talk with your players. Guys like Knutsen, Audette, Walz have more than 1 PPG because I was constantly talking with them, motivating them, listening to their needs. You should talk to them before the game and inspire them to fight hard, You should also talk to them after the game to help them recover.
Another thing you have to do is to dress less than 19 players. You have 19 seats in your arena (I have 20). If players will see, that there are more hockey players in the building, than spectators, they will feel like it's scrimmage and won't fight hard. That's why I always dress very small number of players. Check out, I had three skaters less than Axel in last game and won. And that's even after Shvidki had to come out as injury replacement.
Third advice is that you should never have any hockey sense. In the sim where Deron Quint has better OV than Sheldon Souray, you can't manage your team basing on your hockey sense. You should throw all your hockey knowledge in the window (I didn't had to do it coz I never had any hockey knowledge). Newcomers and idiots always have luck and since I am both, I'm double lucky.
So, play it like you are idiot, always talk to your players and never let in more skaters than attendence - and you will win.

I guess, after you've read, that it's Pointman's post about Hawks you clicked the link being absolutly sure that there won't be anything about Hawks and no Pointman.
