I still remember game 6: Nieuwy streaking down into the Canadien's zone just as Lanny steps out of the penalty box. Nieuwy shoots, Roy gives a rebound to Lanny, and Lanny puts in his last ever NHL goal. It was a beautiful moment. But I guess everyone remembers that.

Yup. A pass across on a two on one. My dad was actually at the game and jumped up when Lanny scored and smoked a Habs fan under the chin with his fist! He felt pretty bad...but got over it real quick.
On the same day, I was in Grade 1 and got violently ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. My dad, who is a big Flmaes fan, had to miss the game and I don't know if he ever saw it.

Vivid memories for sure! Was at a local bar with some friends watching the game. The place wents nuts when Lanny scored.

I guess not! Loob carried it from blueline to blueline, and made a quick pass to Nieuwendyk, who made a beauty pass the width of the ice to McDonald.
No streaking and no rebound.

"I had only seen the NHL in black and white. My grandfather bought a colour tv. The Flyers were inexplicably wearing orange uniforms. I fiddled with the colour controls until they were wearing proper red uniforms. For some reason, this adjustment screwed up the colours on the other programs. There was only one station to watch. I thought he had got a defective tv. The technology was in its infancy. It took a long time to figure that one out."

Was at a high school dance, but instead of patiently waiting for some poor schmo to ask me to dance, I was out in the hallway watching a bank of TV's the school had set up.
I still laugh when I think about the rest of girls in the gym, standing around waiting for the game to be over or in the bathroom redoing their really big bangs and putting on too much mascara.
I had way more fun at that dance than I had at any that came before or after.

There was the pain in Lanny's face when the Habs beat them in 86. He was heartbroken and was probably thinking he might never get another chance at the Cup. Everyone in the bar thought it was poetic justice that Lanny got a goal in game 6. He was huge among Flames fans back then and we wanted for him to get his Cup. Some of us were wearing our red 1986 sweatshirts that a picture of Lanny and his moustache.
Sadly I missed the Stanley Cup parade as I was at my brothers place in Minnesota. To this day I regret taking that vacation.
Lanny takes the pass from Niewendyk and skates in on right wing and lifts the puck over Roy's left shoulder
Buries the puck over Roy's left shoulder with the force of a Hall of Fame career and the heat of a thousand suns behind it! That shot gives you an inkling of the player he was in his prime. It was the final bullet in the gun of a sniper who once potted 66 in a season.
Beauty score against the greatest goalie in NHL history.
Lanny saved the best for last.

Wow, all these years and I had no idea that they won the cup on the same day as an old friend of mines bday, who happens to be a huge Habs fan. Looks like something to get obnoxious about when we have some drinks tonight.
