This is fall out over the homeless guy making the comments on Condi Rice last week. I've already called XM and requested a refund for the 30 days of the suspension because, which they gave me. I encourage anyone who's a XM sub to phone and voice your displeasure with the suspension. From what I've heard already there is a huge wait to cancel subs, and that a large amount of subs have phoned in to complain and ask for a refunds.
This is censorship plain and simple and satellite radio was meant to be free of this, even if what the guy said was offensive he still has a right to say it. Save O&A make your voice heard.

XM is a subscription service and therefore should be less regulated. However, Sirius and XM are looking to merge and need approval from the FCC in order to do so. I dont think the FCC was very happy with Opie and Anthony's comments and put pressure on XM to take action.
Frankly, I support the suspension. I listen to them on public radio every morning and they are very entertaining. But, hiding behind the veil of "free speech" is such a farce when people like you say "he had a right to say it". True in letter of the law sense and the government should not be able to regulate speech at will, but people need to use common sense and decency. Those comments were disgusting and show the level of talent on that show, at times, is non-existent. "Shock-Jocky"....there are better and more intelligent ways than that.
Get your money back because it's your right and call in to complain. But know that the FCC has long arms and maybe they were right on this one.
They had a homeless guy on and the guy was saying some stupid things and "implied raping" Condoliza Rice. O&A apologized the next day, but now XM is saying that they didn't take it seriously.

Does it matter that it wasn't Opie, Anthony, or Jim Norton that said it. It was a guest. O&A apologized the next day for the comments made by the guest, then 5 days later they get suspended. I think it's crap.

I haven't heard the comments or even heard the show before. But I don't think it matters whether the hosts said it or not, because it's their show, they should be in control of it and are responsible for everything that goes out on the airwaves.
Rumours on the Internet suggest they've been fired. If it means less O&A and more Ron and Fez, then I'm all for it. In fact, I e-mailed XM and thanked them for the additional Ron and Fez coverage and urged them to continue in that direction.
As far as O&A go...in the post-Imus radio world, you had to know they were on borrowed time.

They're responsible for the content of thier show, and if they can't control thier guest then they need to install a delay.
Brutal... just brutal. I've been listening to O&A religiously for 2 years now, and they say much worse things than what was said by "Homeless Charlie" almost on a daily basis. Words can't express how angry I am over this.
This is not good; I was listening to the Andy Dick roast on Howard Stern before I saw this thread. Admittedly I don't know exactly what was said on O&A...but that roast was almost certainly more offensive. (And might I add, absolutely hilarious!).
Its a sad day when you're paying for a service such as satellite and still can't really hear free speech for better or worse.

Okay...it's a radio show...take a step back.
What strikes me as funny is they ripped Imus for just being dumb about it. They said he had a right to free speech but they were critical of his actions after the incident. Then, less than a month later, they make a remark that is not received well, offer a shallow apology, and then a couple days later joke about the incident, making the apology hollow.
Couple of low intelligence guys that try and say outlandish things to get ratings, but have little talent otherwise.
Hopefully theyre back in 30 days for those who apparently cannot go on without them...
If this is how it works than satelite radio is no better than terrestrial raio. I guess the future of radio is with the internet where the content providers won't have to answer to corporate interests.
Radio in general sucks, be it XM, Sirius or otherwise. Censor 'em all I say, the world would probably be a better place if we just listened to music instead of ***holes.

One would think that Yucko the Clown constantly dropping the "N" word had to offend somebody? It was funny though. Especially the part about Andy Dick snorting Coke off of a ______ ______. You know the rest.

actually I prefer the s. They make the music that much more memorable. If you don't like radio you can just buy CD's and turn the radio off. Radio has some great personalities that can add a lot of substance to one's life. You sound like you could use some substance.
Sounds like a couple of guys wanted a few weeks off and some free pub. Perhaps I am too cynical.
