Well, I like the first deal for New Jersey a lot. Mueller is at the very least two seasons away and although Vlasic had a decent first year with the Sharks, he's 20-years old and not comparable IMO to Ohlund. Ohlund is a legitimate Top 4 defenceman who is 80 OV in the SIM compared to Vlasic's current 72 OV. Re-rates won't make much of a difference, and I could even see the gap between the two increasing by more than 8 points. This looks like a salary dump by Neil though, which was probably necessary as Ohlund could get upwards of 8M according to the new rules.

The second deal is another salary dump, and I think the deal's good for Neil. Lang should re-rate lower but still earn a sizeable amount which probably won't be justifiable given his age. Clowe is a decent piece to get back along with the pick. The 2M+ should also come in handy.

The third deal I think is a massive overpayment by Neil for an aging goalie who sucks. That is all.

The Ohlund deal is even steven I think but its great to see NJ get off to a great start to the off-season adding a huge piece to the puzzle. A few more deals like that and NJ will be in the running for most improved team come next season.

Good job gents.

Yeah, I figured with the new UFA rules it actually increases a guy like Ohlund because you can now trade for him and know you can sign him for like 8 million. In the past you could but you were sort of forced to sign him and often that resulted in a 10 million dollar contract.

Still don't know why you went after Roloson he's like a 74 goalie in my opinion.

Roloson is an 80 ov right now and even after the re-rates should be a 77-78 or so. He is a starting goalie in the league and I wanted to trade Denis because he no longer was a starter in the league (lost his starting job and then wasn't even on the roster as a backup in the playoffs). If Roloson is a 74, Legace must be a 70

The new UFA rules certainly contributed to my decision to acquire Ohlund. Thanks again to Neil for the easy and fair negotiations. Now to look at our forward ranks ...
