Personally mine would have to be Chris Cuthbert. CBC's loss was TSN's gain IMO. He doesn't seem to play favourites, the excitement in his voice always matches that of the game, and he doesn't talk too much (like Jim Hughson) or too little (like Bob Cole).
He's the reason I could watch a Phoenix-Columbus game and still get excited, you can't help but get into the game when he's calling it.

Apologies if this is a fata.
No question. Chris Cuthbert is my all time favorite!

Maybe it's just me, but he was way more excited in 2004 when Matt Cooke scored to force O/T, than when Gelinas scored in O/T.

I like Roger Millions. He started out a little over the top and overly Flames biased, but this past year he has calmed down and become a great a announcer IMO.
As far as being crisp and accurate with his calls, I give it to Jim Hughson.
I know there's some sentiment that he is a Canucks homer, but Hughson is one of very few people that a blind person could listen to and still understand wdf was going on.
NHL: Jim Hughson(when the Canucks arent playing), runner-up: Chris Cuthburt
NHL all-time: Bob Cole. I realize he's still announcing, I say "all-time" because I think he's lost a step in the past decade. Not the most insightful guy, but whenever I hear his voice, it just reminds me of a tense, exciting playoff game.
-Honourable mention: Ed Whalen. He's got one of those voices that if you're a Flames fan and grew up with him you love him, but if you're not, you find his voice annoying as hell. I loved Whalen, his voice reminds me of watching big Flames games when I was a kid.
Other sports: I'm a casual follower of baseball, and when I catch games I usually love the play-by-play guy's voice, but I dont follow it closely enough to remember their names. For guys I know, shockingly enough for me, FOX's main NFL team of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman have really grown on me. I used to hate Buck, but when paired with Aikman, they make a great duo I think. Aikman makes some great, insightful comments too.
Other sports all-time: Keith Jacksonnnnnn(NCAA football)...perhaps my favourite announcer of all-time.
I also loved Mike Lange in Pittsburgh, but for some reason I have seen him battered pretty good in this forum. I miss hearing him and it's a shame he wasn't there this year to call what must've been a great season in Pittsburgh. Does anyone know if he's on radio still?
My favorite is probably Jim Hughson, especially when the Canucks aren't involved...but even when they are I think he's really, really good.

hughson and millions are terrible. such homers i hate it even if it is the flames sometimes.
cuthbert is good, gord miller is good too. i like the guy that does the nbc games too. don't always like his comments but he has a great voice for an announcer. he gets so excited that i get excited.
what is really lacking is a good color man. greg millen sucks, so does healy and mcguire, don't like harry neale, don't like the nbc color guy. i actually thought that after a few broadcasts cassie cambell was a very solid color person. very knowledgeable, doesn't speak just to hear her own voice. and she's hot and lives in Tuscany here in calgary so its win-win.
