He got steam rolled last night as well by Pronger. Nice hit, then he went and scored a goal.

The canucks just have special jerseys that make them look bigger. The sisters need them for protection.

Yes, that's the first thing I noticed. He looks meaner right now as well compared to when he was playing for the Flames. I guess he knows in order to stay in the NHL, he has to look bigger and tougher.

He does look bigger and better than he did for the Flames. I think. I can't remember a single thing he did for the Flames. Not a goal or a fight. But I do remember well the beating he took from Chris Simon in the game that clinched a playoff spot for the Flames in 2004.

I've always kind of considered that the start of the whole big run. Cowan throws a dirty hit at Commodore, in comes Simon to kick his ass, and then Simon points at Avery in the box and says "you're next". I'm sure I've got a detail or two wrong and I'm putting too much on the exchange, but that's how I remember it.

He had some decent size and showed some good moves here just not nearly often enough but he really has taken a step forward and even though he has been around a few different teams now he managed to find his place in the league.
