What does Special Teams have to do with the playoffs??

I was curious about what effect overall special teams has in regards to the CPHL playoffs... so i used the 100 rule to determine who is where.

I'm not surprised that my PK has sucked, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why my PP is bad.

Two years ago when I ran the Oilers I had the leagues top PP and 4th best PK unit. Regular season total was like 106.6. In the playoffs my PP completely disappeared and operated at like 8%. I think my PK also sucked and KG's Bruins lit me up big time in the finals and I finished at 70% for the playoffs. I think my percentages totaled less than 84 in the playoffs it was pitiful and probably why that team got completly embarassed.

The playoffs tend to be a whole new ball game.

My PK has always been top 3 in the league since the season started but my PP has been bottom 5.....it was actually last for awhile but has climbed up 4 spots or so once i've gotten a few more offensive players on D (Sydor, and now hopefully Ohlund).

Oh yeah...mine have been atrocious all season, even though I've added and taken away bits and pieces.

For the first 1/3 of the season I had the worst PK in the league...I have been working my way up ever since and will take 3rd overall!
