Haven't seen something like that for a long, long time. Clean hit on Briere and Ruff sends out all his goons, he should be fined and suspended for a few game, as should Peters. I can't beleive that nobody from the Sens jumped in when Peters started fighting with Emery.
I really hope CBC pulls the national feed of Toronto-Philly and show the rematch instead. Having said that, the rematch is never as good as the first one, but its still a better game than Toronto-Philly.
But, CBC is in a lose-lose situation, if they do it, they will be accused of doing it only because of the brawl. If they don't do it, they will be scrutinized for their Toronto bias. If they don't do it, I think the fallout will be greater.

Someone can back me up on this, and I'm surprised I didn't hear anything from the media, but Emery was laughing because the other goalie swung at him after the fight, missed him, and punched the Ref square in the jaw. (At least that's what I thought I saw on the replay).

At about the 1:20 mark on that YouTube clip, Peters swings and decks the ref. Emery's grin widens. He seemed to be enjoying it the whole time though.
Thanks for that link....man Emery is one of my new favourite players...how can you not love that guy

"My take on it is it was a late hit, a dirty hit," said Sabres coach Lindy Ruff. "He was vulnerable and I don't condone it. (Drury) shot the puck and the hit was a second or two late.
"(Neil) took advantage of a guy in a vulnerable position."
"It's very obvious what (Ruff) did, what his objective was. It was to go after Spezza, our top guy," said Senators GM John Muckler. "I don't think he has a right to do that. I didn't read in the rulebook where that's fair."
"I've listened to Lindy cry on TV so many times," said Murray after the game. "I'm not going to believe him anymore. I thought it was a good bodycheck. Then he sends out his guys to sucker punch our guys. That was uncalled for.
"There have been suspensions before (in this situation) and I'm sure the league will look into this."
The hit itself was not dirty IMO, but it was late.

He skated maybe a stride after Drury let the puck go, we see this all the time. It's Drury's fault for admiring his shot and not having his head up, very, very clean hit on him. Mcgratton and Neil are going to be looking for a bit of payback tomorrow, wouldn't want to be Peters or any of their top players.
One of many who is too boring; thinks that there should be rules regarding grammar in custom user titles, and also makes moderators wonder if there is a charachter limit here. I mean come on- you would think that would be a limitation in the software

CBC has been scrutinized for their Toronto bias for years. They arent going to worry about it because "Canada" does not extend past the borders of the GTA in their world, and really, who cares about the hinterland?
Emery started smiling the second he took his mask off to fight Biron. I know emery has fought a few times in the AHL including other goalies as well as a player or two..This guy loves to throw them, hence the boxers on his helmet. Emery has fought Andy Chiodo (G) and Mike Peluso (P) in 03-04 and Rob Skrlac (P) and Josh Gratton (P) and Ari Ahonen (G) in 04-05 obviously Biron (G) and Peters (P) in 06-07. P= player, G= goalie

Ok I am half-way though that clip....now maybe I am a prude, so be it, call me on it. But that said:
-the original hit, while nice, was borderline late or not? I only say borderline because its really hard for me to tell just based on that clip.
-that said, you send peters or whoever buffalo's tough guy is to get neil, who threw the hit.
-going after ottawa's skill players instead is pretty weak, I think. whoever was chasing spezza down the ice there from behind...
-what the hell is peters doing to step into that fight? from the clip i've seen so far, emery-biron fight. biron loses. emery gets up. biron hits him again...i.e. let's keep fighting. they go to fight again, and peters comes running in? Come on, in my mind leave it at the goalies - that's fair. If it was an actual ottawa player (forward or defenceman) fighting biron, fine, but I thought interrupting a goalie vs goalie fight is really really weak.
Yah, can't say I really gained any respect for Peters out of that.
That's what I said. It wasn't an elbow, but it was late.

How is it late? It wasn't even a full secod after he let the puck go, it's Drury's fault for having his head down. It's no different than someone dumping the puck in and sombody taking him into the boards, it's just magnified because it was an open ice hit on a player.
Emery is da man)) Two fights during a single altercation - not too many true goons can boast that. As for Peters - you can understand his actions: Emery was the toughest Ottawa player on the ice during that shift.
