Jets lose a close game with the Caps. Just one period, the 2nd, where the Caps scored 3 goals. Chris Thorburn had a multi point game and has been a pleasant surprise since coming from the Sharks. The only bad news is dropping the game is that Jason Allison's 10 game point streak came to an end.

Perezhogin scores in OT as the Isles storm back from a 2-0 deficit to score three consecutive goals. Mr. Smyth makes his debut tomorrow as he comes off the IR.

3 wins in a row!!!

Things are looking better in big D!

I think it has something to do with Sweedish Twins.

Super rookie Paul Stastny gets two assists tonight to lead the Devils to a second straight overtime victory, this time over the last-place Sharks. Stastny's point-scoring streak is now at 5 straight games. Could he get a second consecutive "rookie of the week" award?

Overall solid game from the Pens. Spezza scores #37 and adds an assist, Hejduk is good in his debut and scores his 28th of the year. Kolzig is great through the first 2 periods and takes a rest in the 3rd as the Pens hold the Canucks to just 1 shot in the final frame. The win is the 3rd straight for Pens and they trail the Caps by 3 points for the #3 seed in the Gretzky conference.

A certain unspecified GM told me you have a poster of the twins near the end of their stripping routine on the ceiling above your bed.

Jackets gut out a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Still fighting the injury bug the Jackets got some much needed reinforcements to the West coast in time for todays tilt with the Ducks. After a hectic first period which saw all 5 of the games goals the two teams grinded it out in the final two periods until the buzzer sounded giving the Jackets a much needed win to climb back within 1 point of the Phoenix Coyotes in the Howe Conference playoff race.

The Ducks opened the scoring as Shawn Bates shot deflected first off Brian Pothiers skate and than riccocheted off Darcy Hordichuk's knee into the Jackets net only 1:07 into the game. The Ducks drew even 1:39 later after a flurry of pressure in the Ducks zone when Miroslav Satan was able to walk around David Tanabe into some open ice and fire his 34th of the season over M-A Fleury's right shoulder. The Ducks reclaimed the lead on their second shot of the game as Burrows bad angle shot deflected off the skate of Josh Gorges and past Manny Legace. This time it took the Jackets 3:23 to answer back as Scott Niedermayer moved in from the point and converted Miro Satan's feed through the legs of Fleury to even the score again. The Jackets finally claimed the lead for good 1:18 later when Christian Ehrhoff hit a streaking Mark Streit who walked in on the breakaway and faked a move the backhand before pulling the puck to his forehand and firing the puck over Fleury's blocker for his 5th of the year.

The Ducks managed some good pressure in the second but Manny Legace settled in and didn't allow anything to get by him. The Jackets had several good chances to extend the lead in the third period but M-A Fleury shut the door and gave his club a chance to even the score. But Manny Legace would have none of that and the Jackets leave Orange County with a 3-2 win.

Tommorrow the Jackets return home to face the high powered Panthers for the 2nd time in 3 days. The Jackets put up a good effort but lost a hard fought 4-3 game in Florida on Monday and hope to rebound and get something out of tommorrow's tilt.

Canadiens Clinch Playoff Spot By Sweeping the Season Series with the Panthers.

It was a battle between the two top teams in the CPHL. A contest where neither club could be expected to bring their best due to the bumps and bruises collected along the way. The Panther had Lidstrom, Poti, Donovan, Zidlicky, Tarnstrom and Weight receiving pregame treatments for a variety of minor injuries. The Canadiens also had key players on the limp. Tkachuk, Reinprecht and Cooke all were limited in their ice time. Despite the walking wounded, the game went as expected. A fierce battle between top teams. The Canadiens outmatched the Panthers 5-5, but the Panthers dominated the special teams battle. The Canadiens scored four goals even strength while allowing 2 power play makers.

Overall, the play was even with the Canadiens directing 29 shots on net and the Panthers firing 30 towards Thomas Vokoun. Vokoun won his 4th straight game and was named the third star of the night. Peter Forsberg had another strong outting and was named the games number 1 star with a 2 point night. Defenseman Ed Jovanovski also had a strong performance with a goal and several big hits.

With the Victory the Canadiens accomplished 3 things for the Canadiens. 1. The Canadiens became the first team to clinch a playoff spot in the CPHL 2007 playoffs.
2. The Canadiens swept the season series with the Panthers
3. The Canadiens secured another sponsorship for the 2007-08 season. An Official announcement is expected this week welcoming the Pringles Company aboard with a 2.3M sponsorship deal.

Kotalik stays sober and assists on two goals. Only 2 PIM for Ales tonight too.

Both teams travel to St Paul for a rematch tomorrow night.

Arkhipov is the first player in CPHL history to take his skate off and attack another player with it... in the 1st period of todays game he attacked Goalie Dipietro with his skate....

Auld came in for relief and put of a solid game as the Caps downed the Jets to get back into the win column.

New additions to the Avs make an immediate impact. Yan Danis wins his first start, stopping 34 of 35 shots faced. Willie Mitchell scored as the flat-footed Avs managed to steal one, 3-1 vs the Nords. That makes it five in a row for the Avs who seem to be pretty comfortably in fourth place in the conference.

Congrats, Beerfund

By the looks of the recent ways of the 'Canes it seems we've lost out team identity with only 16 or so games left in the season. Something I'll have to figure out before the playoffs begin. Perhaps too much tinkering has backfired... 'Canes end up getting a point with the Preds but do so in un hurriane fashion

So I play Dick and Buns against the Habs and this is how the treat me? I fully expected Dick and Buns to light up the Habs and even dressed 7 dmen to make sure I got them in the lineup. They better step it up!
