Default Sounds Like Tucker Isn't Going Anywhere

Found this article, I dont know if it snuffs out all hope completely for the teams supposedly interested in Tucker i.e: Flames, Oilers, but this article tells the story.

i would be surprised if he goes anywhere. The leafs have been playing very well lately and are only 2 points out of the playoffs. I think that they would rather take the chance at having him walk at the end of the year if it means they have a better shot at the playoffs.

There is no use for TO to resign Darcy Tucker. Good on them for locking up a 'fan favourite', but he'll be a 32 year old guy next season.......who will likely get 4-5 years out of Ferguson. Signing old veterans like this is a step back for that organization, IMO. Trade him somewhere (not Calgary) and get prospects and or draft picks for him. What is the best case scenario this season if they keep him? First round playoff exit? I guarantee, flat out GUARANTEE they don't go farther than that, if they make it at all. I think everyone in the NHL, besides the leafs, see what the is the best thing to do in this situation.

With all this said, I'm happy to see the Leafs attempt to keep all of their fan favourites. The longer these guys stick around the longer the Leafs will suffer from the Stanley cup drought.

Good I don’t want that bum coming over here he is one of my host hated players and him putting on a Flames Jersey isn’t going to change that

I don't know if i could support the flames with that clown in one of their jerseys. He's done some pretty classless things over his career.

I can't decide which would be worse, having him on the Flames or facing him as an Oiler 8 times. I guess if he were a Flame I might be less aware of his antics due to the homer factor.

Yeah I suppose the homer factor would make him seem a little less classless

#1 for Toronto ownership is making money. Since they are guaranteed a sellout by the mindless lemmings who flock to the brand "Leafs", even an early first-round exit is still worth more than some hypothetical future gained thru trade in their piggy little eyes. So a Tucker that could be the difference between barely making the playoffs and making Bob Cole cry, is an asset they will almost certainly keep.

If they fall 7-8 points out of the playoffs by the deadline, then maybe. If they are anywhere close, he'll only be traded if they can get assets that help them now, not next year or later.
