I'm sure a lot of media personalities visit the various team message boards on the net. There's a lot of good info and assorted discussions that go on in these types of places. There's a lot of crap, too, but these places are great spots to keep in touch with fan bases.

i only wish that jim would influence cbc to actually treat flames games as unbiased broadcasts on hockey night in canada and actually talk about the flames positvely for once.

no disrespect to you Abandoned, but while it is possible Hughson visits these forums, I don't think your thread is where he originally got this idea. The idea of teams no longer being able to keep their players with this CBA is not a new one. Calgary will be in a pickle in 2 years; although most of the players for UFA may not be their original draftee's, they are the core and face of the flames.
It is a tough situation for all teams, and I'm not really a fan of it.

Sorry Abandoned, I don't see a connection between the two.

And Hughson is out to lunch on this. Percentage of revenues are dictated in the CBA with the concept of everyone being on a level playing field. Should one team suck SO BAD that they get to draft guys like Fleury and Malkin (let alone win a lottery for Crosby) do you honestly believe that it is in the best interest to cater to them long term? The entire concept of drafting high is that you suck.

Manage your assets from that point, but under no circumstances should any further benefit become that end of the rainbow.

Hughson is out to lunch, and if you want to claim that fame, so be it.

It is quite possible that it was also a huge coincidence since this topic is a fairly popular and well known one. I would give a journalist like Hughson a little more credit than scouring message boards for ideas

I wouldn't, he's just horrible.

AND THE CANUCKS TOUCH THE PUCK....oh nevermind they turned it over ....and oh...the flames scored.

Thanks for the National Broadcast CBC.

Back on topic, I don't think he got the idea from CP...its not secret that the Pen's Pickle Jar is about to burst in the next few years.

Yes cause he totally sounds like that.

You know, it really seems like this place has a lot of whiners to go along with the ones who are worth talking hockey with.

Personally, I think Hughson is the 2nd best commentator behind Cuthbert. Sure he gets giddy when the Canucks are playing, but he keeps his biased thoughts mostly to himself. In fact, I find when he's paired with that idiot Garret and Garret says something obviously biased, he usually tries to even it out with a counter viewpoint.

I was thinking about the same thing a year or so ago about Bob Mckenzie (sp) The topics he seemed to be covering were the very same threads I had started on CalgaryPuck at the time.

I like Hughson, and I don't find him particularly biased. Not like listening to that moron Healy doing the game the other night with Cuthbert.
