Hey guys I have the oppurtunity to buy a couple PS3's at a very good price just wondering if they're still sold out across Calgary, and if it's worth it for me to pay a small cost over the sold price in stores?
Not worth it at all to spend over the price right now... There's nothing really good or unique for the system. If you don't have a 360, get one there's a ton of great games and the system isn't far off from the PS3 in terms of performance either.
I mean, go for it if you can get one for like $100 more but even then it's too much.
It's somewhat backwards compatible.. since it's emulated (rather than having PS2 hardware in it) it's not perfect. They have a list of games that work and add more as they work on it. Just like the 360...
As for prices, if you want to get one before Christmas and don't want to risk waiting for store stock now's probably the right time. Like was said, eBay prices seem to have settled down and there's lots of rumours of stores getting stock.
There's still tons of conflicting info though as to how many stores will actually get. Some sources say they'll only get another 200,000 to market before Christmas, others say two or four times that.

But certainty is an absurd one.
It is backwards compatable, however Sony has reported there are 200 PS2 games that currently won't work on the PS3. link
Edit: Damn you Photon!

Reason: Too slow.
Thanks for the replys guys, yeah I didn't really look into getting one but the chance came up to buy one for 50-100 more than store price and I've heard stories of people selling them for at least 1200 a piece so I was going to jump on one then, but I'm in no hurry so I may just wait til after Christmas.
Yeah, I seriously don't understand why anyone would by a ps3 when you can get both a Wii and a 360 for the same price. I saw some of the graphics, and yes they do look great, but not great enough to justify the price tag. And, if HD DVD wins over Blu -Ray, then its a useless video player too.

I'll never understand this personally.
I'm waiting until the dust settles on this format war before I buy anything, and when I do, I'll be buying a GOOD player that is FAR cheaper than a combo gaming station and video player.
