It would pretty much prove fan voting doesn't mean anything.
But if this thing is as big as people say, then I'm sure people who work for the NHL will find out about it, and they won't let a player in the All-Star game because of some ruse.
It may prove that fan voting is a joke, but if they let in a sub-par player because of a joke, what would that prove about the seriousness of the league?

Point taken, but they would have a hard time reveling the voting stats, and then saying: "We decided Rory Fitzpatrick is not good enough to play in the all star game and we heard about a campaign to get him voted in, so despite his 100,000 votes he is not invited"
If he gets the votes their hands are tied, that said the voting procedure would likely change next year, but they would hurt the name of the league more by blocking his entry then they would by quietly letting him in and not making a big deal out of it.

Exactly. If this vote-jihad goes as planned, there could be as many as a million votes for Rory Fitzwhatshisname. It will speak volumes as to how homeristic the whole process is.
Petr frickin Buzek was an All-Star. That was more of a joke than Rory Fitzpatrick. They have set the low water mark already, so I don't think they can refuse Feel Good Story Rory because he sucks.
Not at all, as I've said, I would rather start with LA over any of the other WC playoff teams. Bunch of underachievers who look good on paper but don't even deserve to be in the playoffs.
Doubt Rory will accept going knowing it's a joke. He might laugh it off though.
There is no chance he says no. My argument is the same one I used for the NHL not letting him in. The voting comes out, and Rory finds out he is voted into his first all star game, do you really think he is going to bust out with :
"Well I got 100,000 votes but I am not going to play in the all star game because someone told me that people for voted me as a joke."
Nope, he like the NHL would quietly go along with it, by not letting him play, or him choosing not to play, it would cause more of a stink then if he just shows up.

Personally, I dont think there is a chance Fitzpatrick gets enough votes to actually make it as a starter. But if he gets enough to even show up on the lists, then it will likely force the NHL to change their voting rules. That would be a fitting result for such a jihad.
And, if it earns a media mention somehow, it is only good for the NHL, as it is free publicity.

I dont know about that. Go look at the HF thread, they are going insane over there. 500+ posts in the thread already, many of them are voting 30-40 times a day, and go and check every NHL team message board in the league, I have seen "Vote for Rory" on every one. Now there is a myspace group, a facebook group, 3 websites dedicated to it, if this dedication continues, driven by HF, he is a stone cold lock.

I wouldnt call him a lock, but the movement that has been created is quite impressive.
Problem is, how many of these people voting 50 times would have voted 50 times anyway? 50 votes is 49 more than I usually vote in a given year, and of those extra 49 ballots, the guys on the list are getting 98 more votes than otherwise.
So yeah, Fitzpatrick might get 30,000 votes he otherwise would not have, but that could mean as many as 60,000 votes for Lidstrom, Pronger, etc as well.
On HFboards they were saying how when Time magazine did an online poll in 1998 as to who the Man of the Year should be, a whole wack of WWE fans had a huge campaign and voted for Mankind (Mick Foley). It got so crazy that at one point Mick had over 50% of the votes. Time chose Bill Clinton anyway and changed the voting procedure the following year
