Heh, lets check out the players that were traded yesterday...

Zhitnink - 0 points - minus 2 (for a solid -13 on the season...I believe that is tops, maybe 2 best)
Axelsson - 0 points - minus 2 (Brings him up to a resepctable -11)
Brunette - o points - minus 2 (3 points in 12 games! -8. SUPERSTAR!!!)
Artuhkin - 1 point - plus 1 - WHOA!!! Star of the game!
Bertuzzi - 1 goal - minus 1

See ya later LOSERS!

At least we injured Tkatchuk. We seem to average an injury against every 2 games.

Inconsistency strikes again...Pens are struggling to find some chemistry big time...Unsure if any moves will be made, but everyone is available for teh right price!

ISLES DUNK PENGUINS

Ron Hainsey of the Islanders squeezes a Pittsburgh forward against the boards.

PITTSBURGH - Cam Ward made 32 saves helping his New York Islanders to a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Fresh after receiving the previous two games off, Cam Ward made his return to the net Thursday showing no signs of rust.

The rookie netminder turned aside 32 of the 35 shots he faced garnering third star honours for his efforts, but more importantly helped his Islanders steal two points from a shocked Penguins team.

After forging ahead to a two-goal lead courtesy goals from Ron Hainsey and Nik Antropov a minute apart in the first period, the Islanders watched their lead vanquish in the second as the Penguins stormed back with three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead into the third.

"If it weren't for Wardsy there in the second, we could have easily been down by three or four instead of only one," Islanders captain Chris Phillips remarked.

Phillips, who normally tops the team in minutes played saw only 20 minutes of ice time Thursday as he continues to recover from the flu.

"I'm feeling a lot better right now," Phillips said. "I think playing tonight actually helped me speed up the recovery process."

Trailing by a goal to start the third period, Cam Ward held the Islanders in the game in the opening minute facing a flurry of Pittsburgh shots before Derek Roy was sent in alone on Penguins goaltender Jose Theodore. Derek Roy would snap a quick shot through the legs of the Pittsburgh netminder tying the game in the process.

A minute later, with Scott Mellanby in the penalty box, Robert Nilsson would score the go-ahead marker taking a nice feed from newcomer Alexander Perezhogin and firing home the one-timer.

The Islanders will get the next two days off before facing off against the New Jersey Devils at home on Sunday.

Game Notes - Marek Svatos continued his sizzling pace with an assist in the game to extend his point streak to 7 games... since arriving in New York from Detroit Svatos has 8 goals and 7 assists in his first 12 games... Ryan Getzlaf, who opened the season on fire has gone cold of late going pointless in his last 4 games... Youngster Anton Volchenkov turned in a solid performance topping all Islanders in icetime with 29.

Senators lose a squeaker.

Starting Labarbra again for the 3 straight game the Senators lose 5-4
The Frustrating part was this team had a 2-0 lead only to let it slip away. We got goals from Staal, Thonton, Sanderson, and Seabrook.

Looks like Kari is ready to go and should be back in the net soon.

The Canadiens receive a strong effort from back-up Tender Patrick Lalime in a 4-2 win over boston. Lalime made 28 saves allowing the Canadiens to enter the third period tied at two. Reinprecht put the Habs up by 1 midway through the third and the game was put out of reach on a powerplay goal by Beauchemin, with super pest Barnaby in the box for a double minor.
Late in the game Tkachuk went down with a minor body injury. He is expected to be a game time decision. When the Canadiens face off against the Penguins on Sunday.
