Default OVECHKIN or PHANEUF?

Was reading hockey articles on tsn.ca and came across this article...thought it was interesting.

Who would you rather have on YOUR team?

Ovechkin without hesitation. He brings everything in the game plus more like positive media wherever he goes. Heck, the guy bowled over Phaneuf yesterday.

Plus Oveckin is much more of what this team needs right now in the new NHL.

The comments from Friesen about Ovechkin's practice ethic or lack thereof is kinda interesting. Reminded me of Taratuhken saying how they never practiced in Russia, they just showed up for games and that was the hardest thing to adjust to.

Phaneuf is a great defenseman but i'd take Ovechkin without hesitation. AO is one of the best players in the entire NHL.

gotta go with Ovechkin, hes a complete player. Watching him hit and steal and block shots in that game impressed me alot. Of course, Im quite happy with Phaneuf though too.

He probably thinks they are better players, and I agree with him.

He really dislikes Ovechkin, goes out of his way to put him down, I think its just an act to spite others though.

What a bunch of idiots. You cant compare the two, one plays defense and the others a forward. I would like to have both along with Malkin, Staal, and Crosby.

c'mon play along. If you were starting a team, and both were available to pick, who would you build a franchise around?

As much as I think great Dmen are a dime a dozen, guys like Ovechkin come around just about as often. I'd take Alexander.

Ovechkin any day over Phaneuf.

Okay I'll play along, I'll choose Phaneuf because like you said great Defensemen are hard to come by. BUT I would make sure to get Crosby/Malkin to makeup for not having Ovechkin.
