Default The Western Conference Continues to Dominate (per Journal de Montreal)

For all you guys/girls that don't get to read Montreal newspapers.

I was reading a blurb in the Journal de Montreal today titled "L'association Ouest Continue De Dominer Sa Rivale" *roughly translated* "The Western Conference Continues Dominating its Rival"
I found the Western Conferences record quite interesting. They only went back as far as 1999, but.....
Games Played - 1779
Wins - 874
Losses - 610
Ties - 191
Goals For - 5068
Goals Against - 4591
Total Points - 2043
The western Conference had a winning record Versus the East in all 7 seasons.

Wait a minute... you are telling me that there are people in Alberta that don't read French language newspapers from Quebec? Shocking!!!

haha Guess you didnt get my sarcasm. I just thought it was interesting that a Montreal paper (of all places) published that the West was the Dominant Conference. Usually they just ignore stuff like that.

That's a pretty dominating regular season record but....

Yeah I got it, and actually, I find that to be more than a little bit surprising; you are quite right when you say that they usually just quietly ignore those kinds of stats. I was just taking a fun little, tounge in cheek, jab at all the good people of Alberta.

that doesnt suprise me much, i would say that the number of good teams is higher in the west. dont get me wrong, there are lots of great teams in the east, but i think the average team out here is better...hence the winning record.
very interesting to see that come out of anywhere in eastern canada though.

I think there is a lot to it. For the most part the west has had the stronger elite teams (or more of them). When the playoffs roll around the western teams beat up on each other. All that being said I think the gap is closing.
