Default Legalized Prostitution......in Windsor?!?!

Um am I missing something??
Since when did Windsor have legalized prostitution as indicated in this ESPN article regarding Americans taking in the Super Bowl festivities and crossing the border in order to go to strip clubs and apparently legal hookers....
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playof...t&lid=tab1pos3

/awaiting cheap crack on whether im flying there right now to take advantage of this new revelation.....

Um, they don't have legalized prostitution anywhere in Canda. I think they are referring to the legal loopholes around Escort services, which is a Canada-wide loophole. Not just Windsor. No one talks smack about my alma matter!!

Whoa Frankie simmer, no disrespect but that article does nothing to convince me that thats what theyre talking about, i mean the freakin mayor speaks on it, usually with a loophole you know its there but you dont openly admit it.

You are not paying the girls for sex, you are paying for their company for a pre-determined amount of time. If you manage to "seduce" them and they decide on their own free will to sleep with you, well I guess that's a bonus

Jesus, how do people not know this?

PROSITUTION IS LEGAL IN CANADA

Public communication for the purposes of prositution is illegal thus making ALL outcall escort services in Canada 100% legal.

I don't get it. If I stand beside a hooker and call her on my cell phone does that mean I won't get arrested?

Not if you do it in public. You can communicate for the purposes of prostitution only in places where a degree of privacy is the rule. In non-public buildings, in telephone conversations originating in non public places (your home, a private office, a closed room where only you and the prostitute occupy).

The public communication aspect was designed to minimize street prostitution.

ahhhhhhh I see. So if she steps into my car, and THEN I phone her it should be OK.

Good to know, good to know

I believe phones are considered private communication. I don't know if you making the call while in public is a problem. Solicitation is not legal, running a 'flop house' is not legal, and I think I've heard "pimping" ("living on the avails of prostitution" in legalese) is illegal.

I think that covers it.

I always wondered if those "escorts" in the phone book were prostitutes. Interesting.

Another think I found from those Superbowl/Windsor articles is that in the US strippers can be completely naked?

Escort agencies are 100% legal. The City of Calgary even licenses them.

As Incinerator said, the Communications Act in 1985 was what changed the law making it illegal to solicit sex in a public place. Warning, your automobile, is considered a public space.

I can provide links if anyone is overly interested. I just happened to write a policy memo on this 3 months ago.

I've never felt the need to enter a strip club but if I read your post correctly is there some law that says that the strippers in Canada can't be completely naked?

Funny I don't remember saying that or posting in this thread...did you confuse me with Reaper or did I actually say something similar in a past thread?

It's the reverse. In Canada, strippers can be completely naked. In the United States they cannot. They only get "topless dancing." Big whoop, eh?
