Fixed. And your last point is hilarious coming from a Christian. Sorry, you'll have to remind me who it is that is willing to firebomb abortion clinics and murder doctors.

If you want to play that game and start attributing the actions of one person to an entire community, then you'll have to embrace Army of God and other faith-driven psychos as representative of your own.

Change a couple of words and see how ridiculous this sounds?

There was widespread condemnation of the FRC shooting from the LGBT community. There was a massive joint press release.

Didn't you get the memo. Rights were frozen in 1997. Anything that was a right prior to that is still valid but any new rights are a direct attack on the great 1997 right freeze and all that it stands for.

He likely won't admit to it, but he's insinuated as much before.

Moscow's top court has upheld a ban on gay pride marches in the Russian capital for the next 100 years.

Earlier Russia's best-known gay rights campaigner, Nikolay Alexeyev, had gone to court hoping to overturn the city council's ban on gay parades.
Finally a place where true patriots like Tim Thomas and Calgaryborn can go to celebrate their freedom from the gays, Moscow that beacon of liberty.

Sure women and minorities have equal rights.

What you want is a certain relationship to have special privileges. Marriage between a man and a women has been a relationship governments have deemed worthy of protecting and fostering. It long ago was defined and separated for special treatment.

Today the LGBT community is demanding that same special distinction and the privileges that come with it for a relationship between two men or two women.

They aren't speaking for poligamists who would like that same distinction with its privileges or the many nonsexual patnerships we find in society. They are speaking for themselves.

I'm not in favour of any of it. I like Chick-Fil-A have a right to view marriage as our society has always viewed it; between a man and a women. Moreover Tim Thomas, Chick-Fil-A, and this Christian lobby group has a right to express those views without being bullied or shot at.

Well at least you completed the logical fallacy in the first paragraph.

Exactly. They're asking to not be discriminated against based on the gender of the person they LOVE.

Since when is it the LGBT community's responsibility to speak up on behalf of poligamists (sic)?

For the thousandth time, nobody has denied Chick-fil-A or Tim Thomas' right to free speech. The only people that seem to be wanting to deny free-speech are those on the religious right (like yourself) who think they shouldn't be subject to criticism. I have a feeling that if an establishment came out with a strict "No Christians" policy, you'd have no problems with religious groups openly criticizing them.

We're just as entitled via free speech to ridicule them, as they are to have their hateful opinions.

The two best explanations I can come up with for Calgaryborn's attitude on this point is that he is either angry that his made-up god is increasingly irrelevant in modern society. Or he really is gay himself and filled with self-loathing guilt. A good friend of mine used to be like that. She was involved in a very conservative church, probably similar to Calgaryborn's. It was all a mask, a way to hide from her true self.

She's free of that church now, and much better off for it. She was scared as hell when she told us she is gay. Wanna know what changed when she told me? Nothing. Not a god damned thing. She didn't turn into a demon, she didn't infect anyone with teh ghey, she just continued to be the same person she always was.

Free your mind, Calgaryborn. Then you will be able to free yourself.

A group of Russian anti-gay activists sued American pop star Madonna for $10 million on Friday, saying she had insulted their feelings when she spoke out for gay rights at a concert in St Petersburg last week.

Performing in black lingerie with the words “No Fear“ scrawled on her back, Madonna attacked a city law adopted in March that imposed fines for spreading homosexual “propaganda”. She had earlier called the law a “ridiculous atrocity”.

Homosexuality, punished with jail terms in the Soviet Union, was decriminalised in Russia in 1993, but much of the gay community remains underground as prejudice runs deep.

I hate this tactic. Casting these concepts about implies that there's something inherently wrong with being Christian, in the closet, or both. There isn't.

People who hold views like the ones Calgaryborn has expressed in this thread are mostly not conflicted about their religion or their sexual orientation. For the most part, they're simply pricks.

why is this a surprise that Chick-Fil-A is against gay marriage. I think they named their company Chick-Fil for a reason

A third option is that he has homosexual thoughts and inclinations but like a good Christian he represses them. He is then angry that he has to repress his feelings while others can't. I would imagine that he looks down at gay people because they are clearly weaker than him and subject to contempt.

Either way, it doesn't seem very healthy to be so fixated/upset by something that doesn't affect his life in any way whatsoever. A quick sniff test would be to pose the following question. If no one told you it was happening would you ever know. If you were never invited to a gay wedding and didn't go to the park on the days when they are performed there would you have any idea that it was happening or be affected at all by it?

Unfortunately, as several courts have decided, this separation goes against the Charter in Canada and the Constitution in the United States. Our government is not allowed, under its guiding documents, to entrench discrimination. Of course, you are more than entitled to disagree...thank heavens for our right to disagree.

Hopefully, someday you might embrace the diversity that exists among us and will support the rights of LGBT to celebrate and formalize our lifelong loving commitments in front of our friends, family, the government and God (if we believe). Until then, we will disagree.

And gay couples have the right to express the same affection for each other as straight couples have the right to, without being treated as inferior by the government to which they pay taxes. They have the right to exist freely, without threat of violence or abuse from people who disagree with their opinions.

Again, this shooting was tragic, as is any shooting, but it does not mean that Christian groups, by and large, are being terrorized by the LGBT community, so stop acting as such, unless you're prepared to also take the blame for the many, many atrocities the Christian religion and its various sects have been responsible for over the last 2000 years.
