Can anyone recommend a decent burr coffee grinder?
Ideally something well-built, compact, and with inoffensive looks....but that doesn't break the bank (so doesn't have to be made of Italian Unobtanium). Sub $200?
Is there a place to buy Bodum products in Calgary? I'm looking for this as a gift, and and in typical fashion left it to the last minute, so online shopping is out.
Yes I do own one and I would recommend it. It doesn't grind espresso super fine but it grinds it fine enough on the second finest setting to choke my machine. What I like alot about it is the accuracy of dosing. It doses shots very accurately between runs. Within a gram of each other.

She pretty much drinks espresso....are there different levels of espresso grind, or superfine what you need for it? Sorry if I sound like a moron about this.
Haha the weed thing was a joke... But yeah, if coffee is a priority in your life, you're probably right.
I wasn't trying to pick a fight though, just legitimately amazed that a 200 dollar coffee grinder exists. I also honestly doubt it does that much more than my 15 dollar one does to warrant the over 1000% price difference.
But if the wife wants the espresso a certain way... I guess the peripheral benefit is worth it to you.

No worries, it's expensive to me too, but I'm just trying to make someone happy by getting them something of quality that hopefully they can use for many years.
I've been using this one for about 2 years, no problems so far. Use it for french pressing though, not espresso, so I'm not sure how well the "fine" part of the grind is.
The Maestro Plus conical burr grinder is the perfect grinder for the home user hoping to improve their brewed coffee. Although it is capable of achieving an espresso grind, we don't recommend it for espresso due to the wear and tear that espresso is known to have on grinders. It is best suited for brewing drip, french press or Aeropress.
I have actually ground coffee in a magic bullet before
Thanks for the recommendation guys. The Magic Bullet is great for a lot of things, but it's a blade grinder, so apparently not so good for coffee compared to a Burr Gringer. Don't ask me why....I'm not sure myself. Something about it not grinding it evenly.
