If you look at the Canucks forum on HF, a lot of their fans actually hate him and think he is also a dbag.
Of course however, they aren't the majority there.
Just like it is with diving, we call out and hate when our players do it.
I'd never want Kesler on this team.
I would take Kesler. There is no reason you can't sit him down with management and get him to smarten up ala Cooke. He is a good player besides being a dbag.

An honest post, thanks. Don't believe it though. In some alternate universe where almost everything is equal except the full Canucks lineup is replaced with the full Flames lineup... all the diehard Calgary fans of this forum would be losing their minds full of joy and cheering their team despite their current protests. That's just being a fan.

This is kind of a ridiculous argument.
That's not how things are. We Flames fans see the Canucks as divers and dbags now. We may have seen differently if the roles were reversed, but fact is, these are the cards we've been dealt, and so, this is how we see it.
Now that we've seen this kind of sportsmanship, I'd say most of us don't want it.
I want to win, but not at the expense of integrity.
If Ryan Kesler was a Calgary Flame... 95% of the posters on this forum would let him rest his balls on their chin.
If Kesler was a Calgary Flames to start his career, he wouldn't be a dbag like he is today. When Dan Hamhuis was playing for the Predators, I didn't notice him dive or snap his head. It's the organization that soiled the player.

Hey, thanks, it's a good post. Disagree with it though, but that's the nature of fandom.
Canadians reminisce legendary about Bobby Clarke and the 72 series... but yeah, he probably pulled the one of the all-time most classless moves by taking out the ankle of Kharlamov... that series is different if that doesn't happen. And Canadians celebrate the win in that series like it was a good honest affair. That's being a fan... and all the Canuck haters here are just being good Flames fans just like the Canucks fans do for their team. They cry foul at the opposition and are blind to their own teams faults. If the teams were reversed the posters here would be slobbering over Burrows and the rest of 'em.
The guy had the same point total as Tanguay in 13 more games played. Kesler would have been a whipping boy on cp this season.
He also was +11 on a winning team compared to Tangs +7. I hope you would let Tanguay rest his balls on your chin if he was a Canuck.
Good post. Very different players so hard to compare. There are other stats like faceoff percentage, etc that you would look at with Kesler and you wouldn't with Tanguay.
I like Tanguay. That being said I think a 5 year deal for him is going to hurt the Flames especially with some apparent uncertainty going into the next few years. Too long a deal for him at his age and what he brings.

Does Hamhuis have that rep since coming to the Canucks? Has he developed a rep for snapping his head and diving since being with the Canucks? Honest question.

This is the difference between Canucks fans and the fans of almost every other team. We don't have to jump from forum to forum and defend our team. It's funny how a couple years ago, you guys denied that the Canucks would dive. Now you guys can't even deny it, the current argument is: "Every great team bent the rules to win".
The Flames may be out of the playoffs, but we don't have an asterisk beside anything we've won.

While all that's true and most people on here hate the contract he signed, no one would have a love affair with Kesler this year. He's nowhere near as good as last year. I have a couple Canuck friends who've been pretty upset with Kesler's showing this season.
Well, I don't think this guy will last until the end of tomorrow.
Maybe. I've been following this forum regularly for the past season. Known about the board for a bit longer than that though. But I keep coming back and reading, mostly out of morbid curiosity to see Flames fans react to their dismal team.
But a dismal team is a cyclical thing. Every teams fans have to watch their team go through the ups and downs. Right now the Flames are going through a down... and sure it will be followed by a period of Flames domination, winning the division et al. That's the way it works.
