Default Warrener on fan 960

Some people don't want to/don't have the time wade through a bazillion pages to find where it was commented.

I would be interested to read his comments too if someone that was listening could post them.

That thread is pretty much derailed now anyway.

I think it would be interesting also.

Rhett:
Keenan was not right guy from start.

Did not agree with his approach...fear.

He elevated some guys.

Playoffs or not...were far better teams than Brett had...

Way different goals then..win playoff rounds...be a contender. Now..maybe look to make playoffs.

Sarich responded well.

Not an elite coach.

Hire the right guys and trust them...be involved BUT!

Different feel...3 years now..management and maybe owners more receptive for harder player moves to be made.

Keenan was pretty much a failure here, he was given very good very deep teams and turned them into terrible defensively, individually driven teams that had next to no team commitment.

He basically trashed Tanguay at every turn. Misused other players, and pretty much started teh Phaneuf slide.

We don't know what Keenan's interactions were with the flames owners and management team, but if you go by his past history probably not great.

I have a lot of trouble giving Keenan much credibility, he's more destructive then good, and he's relishing the chance to be in the spotlight and to try and vindicate himself.

Keenan was a terrible coach when he was here, he had no system in place, you could see it every time you watched Kipper facing odd man rushes, and 10 rebounds.

If Management made the mistake it was bringing flaciid Mike Keenan ininstead of Iron Mike.

Rhett talking about Keenan shouting out while he was lit at the private Garth Brooks concert had me laughing.

I agree Dion peaked in his first year with Keenan and began to slide in his second year. 60pts and a Norris nod in year one and 47pts (on a higher scoring team) and the terrible +- in the second year.

I remember when the Flames hired Keenan my buddies who cheered for the Canucks celebrated as they knew first hand what Mike could do to a franchise.

There's no doubt it was a bad hire by Darryl and maybe the sparked the beginning of the end of his tenure but nobody should really be surprised about the hiring. Playfair, Keenan, Brent were all guys that Darryl knew closely and he was simply a GM that didn't stray out of his small circle of hockey acquantences.

My Sharks fan friend told me that Darryl Sutter would destroy your club and leave it crippled for years...looking that way over a year after the Darryl Sutter era ended.

??? the Sharks have been perennial contenders since Sutter left and improved every season he was there, 2002-03 excepted.

I wonder if there was pressure from up top to can Playfair and bring in a veteran coach?
