I am seriously contemplating a switch from Telus to Bell right now due to the fact I ALWAYS go over on my bill every month with Telus.
Just wondering if anyone here is with Bell and had anything positive/negative to say about them?
Thanks guys.

I'm with Bell, they've been pretty good, and thier rates are reasonable. I did end up running up about $300 in cell phones charges when I went to New York last months.
I'm with bell, but a buddy works there and got me a good deal, even a personalized phone number. They are pretty good. I used to do the same thing with Telus. Every month a mystery charge would appear for a few bucks that they would always reverse. Just the shadiest evil ****** company going.
They had a major fata up a while back by not sending out bills for months but it seems to clear up.
Another thing, don't you hate now on bills they say "You saved $345 this month" by comparing to some other fictional company? Why don't they just cut the crap and say "You saved $7,577,058 dollars this month".
Im also with bell and I found my phone had 10X times better reception, not to mention a way better phone, and fairly good rates. Service was kind of a pain during initial set up. I reccomend them. Never go to Rogers. Horrible.

Are you saying that Bell has "10X better reception" than TELUS, or Rogers?
Since Bell, to the best of my knowledge, still uses TELUS's system, towers, switches, etc for AB/BC, that would be unlikely, if not impossible, to be "10X" better than TELUS.
Bell is using TELUS's Alberta "Bigfoot" coverage, and TELUS's BC coverage as well, no question.
At some point, Bell will start building their own towers starting in the main centers, then roam onto TELUS where they don't have coverage, but I don't think they have started yet. Could be wrong, as I have been out of that side of the industry for a while, but when I get back from holidays I can look into it.

TELUS may in a few places (again, I would have to check for an update), but mainly they already have coverage out east when they purchased and incorporated the Clearnet system into TELUS's.

Ever think that the reception could have to do with your "way better phone"?
I've been with Rogers for close to 10 years. I've been very happy.
I have both Telus and Bell phones. The Telus is my personal phone and the Bell is the company phone. Now I can't say anything about price because I never see the company bill, but based on reception, Telus is better. It's funny how Bell is supposed to be using Telus' towers and yet there are are areas where I work where I can get Telus coverage but no Bell. I have also had big problems with Bells' voicemail in where messages won't show up for a day or two after customers leave them. I have lost sales because of it. For me, I have had good luck with Telus.
Originally posted by CFENT@Jun 5 2005, 07:44 PM As far as I know Bell uses its own towers in the major cities(in AB BC) and roam off telus in rural areas.
Perhaps they do now. I cannot say for certain.
When I get back from holidays, I will confirm this with my contacts in the industry.
Cell phone companies are like political parties, it always comes down to the lesser of evils
After a stint at Hellus and the old Cantel, Bell's been great for me personally. As a far as customer service, they are light years ahead of Telus IMHO, but then again Telus plungered me during the Clearnet crossover so it wouldn't take much to be better. Bell did have that billing snafu that cost it's reputation dearly - it could have done better to make amends. Much better.
Bell's phones are unfortunately the worst in terms of having the latest and greatest gadgets. But the all important coverage has been great IMHO.
One of the key features of Bell that keeps me there is the Hardware Upgrade policy. It used to be that you could be eligible for a hardware upgrade every 18 months, meaning you could get a new phone and could get the discounts given out to new subscribers, even if you were still under contract. Can't do that with Telus AFAIK. YOu might want to check with Bell though, they might have changed this on me!

I third that, I've been with Rogers for 9 years now, from the days of Analog to TDMA and now GSM, I like how I can switch to whatever phone I want anytime I want just by popping out the SIM card, unlocked GSM phones is the best thing to happen to man since...
I had fido per second billing and switched over last summer to telus when they offered me a free phone and the same plan as I had with fido. I have no complaints, I never go over with telus (per second billing) and my phone was good. Havn't had an encounter with customer service yet
It would be impossible for recepton to be better with Bell over Telus they use the same towers, I should know I work for Telus. Bell does have a bigger ad campaign right now in the west because they are trying to make a break through being an eastern company. If you like Bell go I've had customers on both ends whine and praise the comapny it's whatever makes you happy.
I've had a few issues with Bell but they are the lesser of 3 evils. I will never use a telus plan again. If you're switching to Bell stay away from Kyocera phones. Nothing but bad news.

And thanks for the input.

Once something has gone wrong for your Telus account you will experience the wrath of Telus customer service and change your opinion of the corporation immediately
