big game, but it's against the flames'/kipper's kryptonite. one scoring line, followed by what would be 3 x 4th lines on most nhl teams. I think flames will hope for OOT help rather than getting points tonite unfortunately.
The last of a pretty tough stretch. Hope they can pull out a big win in front of the home crowd tonight. Then it's time to go on a pre-trade deadline tear.
I'm so happy that this game is at home. Watching the Horak line face the Sedin's over and over would be depressing. No doubt about it in my mind, Calgary's top players are going to have to be lights out, especially Kipper.
One thing about this team that we haven't really given them credit for is that they have the capacity to raise their compete level when they play top teams and find some success.
LW Alex Tanguay was hit in the face by a puck, a pass attempt which was deflected by a defender and hit him under the right eye, midway through the first period. Tanguay returned for the second period wearing a full-face shield, but left the game in the third period saying his vision was blurry out of his right eye.
It will be a minor miracle for the Flames to get anything out of this game with that center group after Jokinen.
I wouldn't go that far, it's a perfectly winnable game, but Olli is going to have to work his ass off against the Sedin line. Just thinking about it makes me tired. The first line is going to have be really strong. I think that's the biggest thing.

Manny Malhotra, the Canucks fourth line center has five goals. Backlund, Horak and Stajan combined have seven, perfectly winnable is not what I would describe this game as. That being said, for the Flames to have a prayer they need to win the special teams battle and have Kipper outplay Luongo.
Comeau's not going to make anything happen offensively but I'm interested to see Cammalleri and Backlund. Backlund hasn't been very consistent but at least he can make a pass which should help and maybe Comeau can at least take up some space or go to the net for a loose puck like he did in previous years.

As a Kiprusoffarian, I don't need to pray or believe in miracles.
I guess sometimes it's easier to have low expectations. But I really don't think it's as hopeless as you make it sound, especially since it's a home game.

I'm assuming he'll be playing.
Tanguay with one eye is better than anyone else the Flames could slot in.
Going to a dinner to distract myself from the expected slaughter.
I thought that Backlund and Cammalleri showed a little bit of chemistry when Squid first returned. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cammalleri have a big game tonight, he's the type of guy that rivalry games bring the best out of (even if the Canucks don't see it as much of a rivalry anymore).
