Why is a matter of what San Jose does? Now, I agree the Flames don't have destiny in their hands, not by any stretch, but if they were to win 4, with a little help, it's still remotely possible.
Sharks go 4-1, finish 96, take 3rd seed
Kings go 3-2, finish with 94, take 7th seed
Flames finish 4-0, finish with 93, take 8th seed
Stars finish 1-3-1, finish with 92, take 9th seed....keep in mind Dallas finishes with VAN, SJ, SJ, NSH, STL....toughest sked of the bunch
Coyotes go 2-3. finish with 91, take 10th seed
Avs go 2-1, finish with 90, take 11th seed
This is obviously a lot wishful thinking, but it does outline that it's not like everyone else has to lose out while the Flames win out to get in.
