Icon40 Pens bolster roster depth

While being in the thick of the playoff race the Pens decided to take a gamble on a struggling winger. The Pens brought in power forward Chris Stewart along with dark horse prospect to Kevin Gravel in exchange for slick prospect Brayden Schenn and John Gibson as well as the 1st round pick in 2013 that the Jackets owed the Pens.

We see this deal as a gamble on both ends as Schenn and Stewart have had seasons to forget. Stewart is more established so that's why we felt the need to add a few assets to bring him in.

Stewart is expected to join his NHL linemate Patrik Berglund on the 3rd line when he returns from the IR.

Well I don't know what to say about this deal. I had some talks with Dave about Stewart and just couldn't bring myself to pay the price (which was similar to what you paid I would say). Stewart had some good seasons before and if he returns to that its a fair trade. I just couldn't get past that pitiful stretch thus far though, so hopefully it all pans out!
