Whenever a leaf fan brings up the "leafs tradec Clarkson" comment, I bring up who they got for him. It wasn't a good deal, it was good circumstances. They were essentially able to injure Clarkson and put him on the IR.
They'll find a taker for Dion (I think the oil will take him) but I think the return they get for Kessel will be a lot less than some think. They may get a first rounder from a good team (late 20's) but they'll have to take back some salary and/or eat some of Kessel's. They'll be better off trading him than keeping him but they won't be getting the same kind of return that other "elite" players would get.

Soo my guess is TSN will predict a Leafs-Oilers final for next year and they'll both still finish last...get first overall pick again

Oh...they "might " be able to move one of those guys.....but the return will be minimal.....I'm not sure why you are arguing otherwise. ....those contracts are complete anchors and any team taking them on is not gonna give up value to acquire them.
Curious as to what you think the return will be?

Phaneuf won't net a big return and Kessel's contract is extremely risky as the day he loses a step his career will be over and he's getting close to 30.

Dion's value is getting very underrated. He is the best D-Man available.
He plays a position the vast majority of teams want to improve on.
Mark my words, he'll go for more than most believe.
