New thread as the existing one was getting too big.

To continue from the other thread...

Backlund is our long term 3rd line center. There's no chance he's going anywhere in spite of the fact that he would get you way more than Vermette as a return.

Are there any actual media rumours or just fans making up trade scenarios? It's hard to follow this thread (okay last one)as all I see his hypothetical fan talk.

I love Backlund, but if he + a B level prospect nets you a young top 4 potential D man there's a good chance he does get moved.

I think most are just fans spit balling. Everyone knows what pieces are available and just Eklunding it up.

In regards to the potential link between ARI-CAL. I wonder if it is a potential three way deal. A player comer from ARI to CAL and then to the third team with salary retained.

IE.

CHI - Vermette with 50% retained
ARI - draft picks + Stajan/Raymond
CAL - young player

Of course that would have made more sense prior to Kane going down.

There's nothing wrong with hypothetical talk.

source on McCarron for Michalek:
http://www.edmontonjournal.com/Edmon...943/story.html

Quote:
The Canadiens covet Petry to play with Alexei Emelin on a second defence pair in the wide-open East, where there is no clear-cut Cup contender threat. They may not want to deal their two young defencemen, Nathan Beaulieu or Jared Tinordi, in any deal for Petry. They reportedly have offered their 2013 first-round pick, winger Michael McCarron (25th overall) to the Coyotes for the shutdown D Michalek.

doesn't make sense though... everyone is saying Michalek return will be conditional because he is suffering a concussion

Mark Lazerus @MarkLazerus
Source says #Blackhawks have significant interest in Cam Atkinson, as well as Antoine Vermette. 1st-rounder likely the asking price, though.

With Kane down, the Hawks are looking to replace a point a game basically. 20 points in a Cup run is hard to come by.. Vermette would definitely be a start.

The whole team needs to step up though, they have a lot of young talent that could rise to the challenge no?

Hawks can rely on Tervainen to pick up some of the slack left by Kane. I don't see the Hawks giving up a 1st especially for Atkinson.

Im not sure that is the case. Tervainen has not blown anybody away at the AHL or NHL level since coming over to NA.

A whole lot of people on here like to ride Baertschi and say that he hasnt produced/proved anything and Tervainen has done/produced half of what Baertschi had at 20 yrs old. Nobody is relying on him for anything more than 5 points in 15-20 NHL games.

Maybe not. TT hasn't been the greatest at the NHL level as of yet. Hawks are going to have to pony up for some help.
