What's up with Cjay 92?
So, I'm often forced to have to bear with the asinine ramblings of Gerry Forbes and his crew, along with their limited playlist at work. Then suddenly, over the past week or so, I've noticed that the station has doubled their playlist. They sound mostly like older songs but many are songs I've never heard before.
Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe they had a policy change?

Gerry... is that you, trying to advertise your station?
I'm sure you are playing the same stuff you always play.

Doubled the Playlist? Doubt it, probably just changed a few of the songs.I noticed they're obsessed with the Smashing Pumpkins right now for some reason which is pretty unfortunate.
As much as Edmonton sucks their rock station sure is better than ours. Which is weird because they're sister stations and have the same owners. But cjay is pretty meh.

Well I didn't make a crude, not-funny dirty joke in my OP... so I'm probably not Gerry

New Smashing Pumpkins album is out, it's not so much terrible as it is completely forgettable. Don't remember a single song, one part he says someone's name over and over.

My wife and I don't consider our visit to Calgary completed until we hear Patio Lanterns on CJ. Pretty much guaranteed the last 15 years

Haven't listened to CJAY for at least a decade now but I imagine the playlist isn't markedly different since then.

That's pretty much it. I consider Cjay to be basically an oldies station now.

I heard that today on the way home and did a double take. They don't play the old, really good Metallica much anymore

Yeah it is. They could always start playing some B sides (where much of the good music is) and stop playing Ocean Pearl and Dirty Deeds every hour. It's not even like they'd be pioneering the music. Their collection is all more than 10 years old. The OTHER good songs from those albums get played on other stations. It's one thing to be repetitive, but it's much worse when it's playing the same lame songs for 20+ years.
Oh, and get rid of Gerry Forbes. They'll remain on my boycott list until he's gone.

Yeah, they played One by Metallica the other day too, I kind of did a "huhhh?" while flipping through stations and turned it up. If they kept the bands they play relatively the same but played more variety of those bands, I'd be happy with them.
It seems they get stuck on 2 or 3 songs from each band and don't deviate often enough. Play 7 Red Hot Chili Peppers songs, instead of 2, play 7 Metallica songs instead of 3, an so on, and all of sudden you've got yourself a much bigger variety and a station way easier to tune into.
