A little high for my liking considering the term, but to be fair when he signed the last contract I thought it was high at the time and I was dead wrong.

Well, it's a year longer than I would have liked. But the total dollar value of the contract is right at my threshold for a 5 year deal. So I guess this is pretty good.

That leaves plenty of room once expiring contracts come off the books for Monahan and Gaudreau and Bennett moving forward. If Hudler bites on a fair deal too we all win.

Old contract. This one takes effect for the 2016-2017 season and lasts through the 2021-2022 season.

Great AAV today, might not be as great in 5 years.. but overall I think that is a fair deal for both sides. Also helps to set the stage for future contracts with some of the young stars. Similar to when Iggy was here, nobody should be making more than Gio.
