He's referring to when he "met" the last Canucks coach, Tortorella, in the short hallway.

“You don’t want to get called out, go work in a factory,” Hartley deadpanned during Thursday’s meeting with the media. “One day, I think I broke 15 windshields and nobody booed me. But the next day, I packed about 2,000 without and scratch and nobody cheered me. You decide where you want to be.”

That was a beauty. When did he say that and who was he referencing?

We're pretty sure Bob has a whiteboard full of quotes to work into scrums somewhere in his office.

Edit: I see it's from a Quebec reality tv concept. As for the French, I live in Montreal and I can get the accent a little bit:
"Quebec City" player (to Brisebois): Hey, you're the worst piece of #### in Quebec, a little piece of #### (you little ####)
Hartley: What the hell are you doing, this is your joke; Your Stanley cup ring doesn't bother me, you shut your mouth, you shut your mouth
Brisebois: I didn't even say anything and you're gonna shut up! What did you just say to me? No, you shut your mouth. What the #### did you do in your lifetime, #######? What's up with you? What's up with you?
Etc to that effect. I'm not fluent but I caught some of it. My favourite part is Guy Carbonneau doing his best bouncer impression.

My favourite was earlier this year when asked about healthy scratching Wideman, the team's highest paid player "I'm not a banker, I'm a coach."
Love the sentiment and just reinforces Always Earned, Never Given and the hard working attitude he's instituted.

“My wife is at the store right now getting me a remote control — I broke the remote last night when I saw Colorado tie and Vancouver tie,” deadpanned head coach Bob Hartley when asked about the dreaded three-point games that forever seem to be played by all the teams in the playoff race

"We can't get in the locker room and go, 'Crosby and Malkin, Crosby and Malkin,' -- make our players pretend that the Pope is in town because we're going to get caught watching. We need to play the game." - Bob Hartley on his team not fixating on the opposition and focusing on their own game - Feb 6, 2015

I love that he doesn't change his game plan just because Malkin and Crosby are here. That is the best way coach IMO. Play your game.
