He's not 50 goal Iggy anymore, but like I said before if there is a fit, he should certainly be given a look by BT. A 1x1.5m for a 15 goal guy to play depth en route to a Cup would be OK by me.

Lets not make claims like that.
He scored a lot of goals because he was given a lot of ice time that he realistically shouldnt have gotten.
I'm not saying he didnt deserve that time, he did, he earned it, but the guys that should have been playing that time were stapled to the bench because their play was brutal while his was consistent.
All I'm saying is that on a good team, a playoff team or a contending team, he doesnt get that ice-time and he doesnt get those goals and thats what we're trying to be.

Well obviously they were giving him way more ice than he deserved. Or would the Iggy haters claim he was simply playing with world class players and wasn't a difference maker?

I am FAR from an Iginla hater and that isn't the point I'm making. The point is that we romanticize players who we enjoyed during their time with us, and that clouds our judgement when it comes to re-acquiring them for whatever reason.

Can anyone come up with an example of Calgary reacquiring any player where it worked out well for the Flames?

Mike Cammaleri, Alex Tanguay, Phil Housley? All had good 2nd stints with the Flames.

I'm not saying that they weren't good players, but I would suggest that the Flames grossly overpaid for all 3 of those players during their 2nd stints with the team.

What does this have to do with this topic, or the question you just posed?

Hell, even Jokinen worked out better his second time around. The team itself was bad, but he was a good player. Especially on that shutdown/secondary scoring line with Moss and Glencross.

Tanguay signed a one year deal for 1.7 million then preceded to get 22 goals and 69 points.

I loved Sarich, but let's be realistic, the guy probably doesn't have a remote chance of cracking any NHL roster at this point.
