Default LF: Garage Door Opener Installer

Has anyone used a Garage Door Installer from Kijiji that they can recommend? Am contemplating a couple guys from Kijiji that will do it for $90 / $100. It's a simple replacement of an existing one - I'd do it myself, but finding 4-5 hours right now is impossible with a infant. I've bought one, just need to bolt it in.

Retail installers are charging $180 by comparison.

On CRX and Ricosuave's advice I had AndyL come out and install a new opener for me. Did a great job, and would definately recommend to anyone.

Andy, what suppliers do you use for your doors (so I would know which manufacturers website to browse for options, etc).

Being a smaller outfit - I'm not tied to any manufacturer in particular, lets me bounce around between suppliers - source the best product for the application.

For 90% of your typical doors - usually putting people into the R9 thermatech:
http://northwestdoor.com/assets/broc...e_20121005.pdf

Main reason, good quality 'builder grade' door face - and an unbeatable hardware package that comes with it, complete with 10 ball bearing nylon rollers, good steel vinyl weatherstrip, real 14ga hinges.

Generally when we're going up in insulation - move to the upwardor milltown collection. More cost effective than the northwest.

Can also deal in Wayne Dalton, Garaga, Richard Wilcox, Amarr, Steel-craft, Martin, and a couple others - usually it's specific needs/looks...

Today's fun little project. (and a bit of eye candy for the gearheads)

That's a highlift conversion - and liftmaster 8500 opener (making room for the camaro to sit on top of the hoist with a car parked beneath. Yes, that's 5" from ceiling to bottom of tracks.

AndyL was great to deal with. Phoned him up today as something broke on my garage door, turns out a spring broke. Andy was able to be there in under a half hour, didn't have the part on the truck but was back in a few hours, and had my door back and running in no time. Can't recommend enough.

Just FYI all,

Due to ugly divorce. I'm up in fort mchell for the next while; company has officially closed it's doors. All warranty's will be honored - and resolved as quick as I can have them handled.

For the interim feel free to PM me for a couple good techs I can hook you up with. But wont be doing any direct work myself.

Thanks to all for your support.

Andy

Andy, I fired you an email unknowing you had closed shop. Sorry to hear about the problems. If you could fire me a PM with some replacements for yourself that'd be great.

Bump

How hard is it to replace a garage door opener if you buy the same one? Apparently the logic board in mine is shot, and price wise, it's comparable just to replace the whole thing. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. Is this a fairly straight forward job?
