Build thoroughfares on raised decks, and the boulevard below said decks can have the intersections. Crowchild, TransCanada and Glenmore should all be freeways with no lights on them.
Build light rail transit in tunnels below grade.
Cities all over the world do this. Calgary isn't exactly a poor city. It can be done.
Raised deck freeways are ugly as hell. I'd rather no freeway than one of those cutting through the area. I can't imagine it would be popular. Cities like Seattle are getting rid of theirs, because they realized how ugly it was and it destroyed their waterfront.

Montreal knocking down all their raised deck freeways/interchanges that serve Champlain bridge and connectors into highways 40 and 20 as well... before they fall down. 5 year project, but will be so much nicer/better. That was/is some ugly ####
Maybe this was posted elsewhere, but here's the Deerfoot Trail Study. You can add comments/suggestions on the map as you see fit. Looks like this has only been up for a couple weeks. Open houses start mid-June.
They mention two year timeline in the video. Did they mean the entire project? Because that would be amazing.
This is without a doubt the number one infrastructure requirement in the city. Three lanes each way no lights. What a change from 15 years ago when there were lights at every single intersection between tuscany and Bow Trail.

I think short term goals are 2 years (if funding approved), long term goals are TBD.
Short term goals include 1 extra lane on the bridge and some improvements to how Bow merges on with memorial, but not 3 lanes all the way through (entire new bridges at multiple locations are needed according to the video).

Yeah, on the project website it breaks it down better into short, medium (10+ years) and long term (30+ years). Short term is things like adding another lane across the Bow River, medium term is most of the new interchanges, long term is a new bridge over the Bow River.
Good overview, but I realllllly dislike they have traffic circles on the off/on ramps in spots.
I don't travel this area often, but from us SW folks who have to deal with the "new" interchange at 37th St & Glenmore, traffic circles are too slow to deal with large volumes of people coming off a thoroughfare. Luckily in this case the interchange is temporary until the ring road connects nearby.

Those traffic circles along university drive are perfect. It's an odd area to get in and out of, and the traffic there is fairly minimal relative to Crowchild.
This is should be done ASAP IMO. It would instantly turn that area from heavy gridlock to a pretty easy drive in and out of downtown and along Crowchild during rush hour.
One thing I'd like to see is a left-hand exit ramp that went under the bridge and connected to Memorial, as the weaving there is a large part of the issue. But having an extra lane would probably do wonders for it as is.
