Default 2017 Parks Canada Passes - Free

This has been mentioned in a few different threads over the last year but to celebrate Canada 150, Parks Canada passes are free. They're on "sale" now on the Parks Canada website. You can order yours and delivery is free as well.

Quote:
2017 is the 150th anniversary of Confederation. As Canada's gift to you, the 2017 Discovery Pass will provide free admission for the entire year to Parks Canada places from coast-to-coast to coast.

Find adventure, fun for the whole family, or a short break from the everyday. There's never been a better time to make your Parks Canada dream a reality!

If the website crashes, try again in an hour. After chatting with someone in the know, Parks Canada is unlikely to increase their servers to deal with the traffic increase as they are assuming this sudden surge in traffic is temporary.

Got one also, thanks.
Now, I just need to find the Park no one knows about, and the route to get there that no one knows about.

I ordered one, but didn't really look into it too closely.

What extent does the pass include? Is it just parking in National Parks or does it let you into historic sites as well?

IE: I can go to Ingonish Beach in the Highlands National Park for free, but does it get me admittance to the Fortress of Louisbourg or Alexander Graham Bell Museum?

What I read when I ordered mine was that it allows you in the park but anything else that normally has a fee; camping, museums, parking, etc. still costs you. Which makes sense.

We have a 2016 Pass bought in March. My understanding is that this pass will be good until March 2018, and so we don't need to get a 2017 pass. Is that correct?

I ordered mine a few days ago, the best part is not having to stop at the damned little huts and buy a pass.

As long as the site is operated by Parks Canada, it will be included. From the website...
  • The Discovery Pass is only accepted at national historic sites which are operated by Parks Canada.

  • Activities such as tours or parking that normally carry a separate fee may not be covered by the Discovery Pass.

  • Camping fees are not included with the Discovery Pass

What a waste of money that they are mailing these passes out to people.

Just have a big stack of them at the booths and give them out there.

BAM, I just saved a couple million dollars with 2.3 seconds of thought.

Might even be able to use that money to conserve our national parks or something.

No you didnt, you're evil Capitalist swine who never gave even the slightest thought to the plight of under-worked Canada Post Employees.

Wont someone please think about the letter carriers??

Correct. If you look at your pass the expiry should state March 2018.
