This sounds like Bautista's camp planting seeds regarding the Boston interest. That lineup is pretty young and pretty stacked right now. Sure they need to replace Ortiz, but I'm not sure that they'll be looking Bautista's way. If they do, he might end up being the 7 or 8 hitter in that order.

Yeah, I don't see Boston having interest in Bautista. Their outfields are Betts, Holt, Bradley Jr., Swhihart, Shaw, and that really good prospect Benintendi.
I can't see where Jose fits. Hanley Ramirez is their first basemen and they have Sandoval coming back next year so they'll have to put him somewhere (potential DH option). The only way Jose fits there is if he's willing to be a full time DH. Encarnacion is a much better fir for them.

Boston needs bullpen and SP help. Panda will be their DH next season.
Edwin or Jose will be in Anaheim next year is my guess!

Pujols just had a good year and has 5 years/$140 million left on his contract, I can't see the Angels looking for another DH

That and with him and Trout the Angels like the Jays are right hand heavy. The Angels have a mess of a pitching staff to sort out before they should be considering a right handed slugger.

First day after the World Series, Free Agent Day!
Jays pick up the option for Jason Grilli today.
Should the Jays get Dexter Fowler? Cubs did not pick up his option.

Pretty much exactly what they need.
Switch hitter with speed and a good career OBP, not to mention we need an outfielder or two.
I doubt TO would be his first choice though, or if he would prefer CF.

This isn't totally Jays related, but has anyone heard anything on the MLB CBA expiration? Have negotiations been ongoing? Would hate to see a work stoppage

From what I understand it's not expected to be contentious. Scuttlebut is that MLB is pushing for an international draft (Something opposed by IFA trainers) and the players want adjustments to the qualifying offer provisions.

As always... depends on how much and how long.
In theory yes they should, they should also get Josh Reddick to be a strict platoon bat with BJ Upton. I figure those two should replace Edwin and Bautista in terms of win value (If you can get them collectively at the same price that Bautista & Edwin cost). Swap Biagini and Liriano's spots in the staff and we've got our lefty reliever so that would just leave DH & Back-up catcher. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing back Dinner on a reasonable ticket and a no-defense slugger that can effectively replace Saunders bat ought to not be hard to find at a reasonable rate.

Alvarez & Pearce are possibilities.
I wouldn't offer anything on Pearce without a good long look at his post-op medicals... but he'd be the ideal buy-low candidate if his prognosis is good.
I'd really need to see what Alvarez wants first... if it's his past contract or lower then it's something to consider.
Pass on Moreland and Lind.

I think the Jays would be better off replacing Bautista and Encarnacion with contact type guys with high OBP. Ben Zobrists type guys.
They already have a lot of free swinger home run type guys in Tulo, Martin, Smoak, Upton who are pretty much the same as the guys listed above.
I don't know that a 1B is really necessary. Smoak is decent defensively at that position and they are kind of stuck with him. Don't see the need to sign another guy who is just like Smoak. Unless they can get a clear upgrade like Votto.

I'd like to take a run at Reddick in RF. Great lefty, great defence.
Why not take a run at Eric Thames for LF/1B/DH? couldn't cost much.
I always like Moreland, could be a decent 1B
I would love Fowler, but he will probably cost as much as JB, with longer term.
There really arent that many good contact/avg guys out there on the FA market. You would need to trade, but who do you give up?
Power is cheap, which is probably why the Jays have so much of it :-)

Really? I guess I misread that this past spring he was about two years away with a chance to start challenging for a spot this upcoming season.
