Ah yes, complete with the silly Spiderman font.

I have the slim (not super slim) version which I find much more attractive personally. I think it's a mistake to make systems glossy as they just attract more dust and scratches.

I assume there's a way to take the cover off, mine's starting to howl like a banshee even just using Netflix on it, assuming it's gummed up with dust.

Does not support 4K Blu-rays!

PS4 original is the last console I buy.

The best part about console gaming was not needing to upgrade hardware for 8 to 10 years at a time. Now they are coming out with these microupgrades people will feel compelled to buy.

I'll hang onto my PS4 (non PS+ account, mind you) and continue gaming on my PC. I'd rather upgrade my PC continuously than a console. At least you can customize to exactly how you want it.

Baffling decision by Sony. I was honestly pretty interested in this console considering I don't have a PS4 yet and have a 4k TV. Can't believe they didn't include UHD disc support. Pretty big negative IMO. Also, the console is ugly as sin.

Branding consumer electronics as "Pro" is so annoying.

I'm done with consoles too, especially now that Microsoft is releasing games like Forza on Windows.

Yup don't have a PS4 either and want to play some of the exclusives, was planning to buy the Pro pretty much sight unseen because it never even crossed my mind that they'd not have a 4K player. Now I don't know, maybe I'll just pick up a cheap used PS4 when people start selling them to upgrade.

I wonder if there can be enough negative backlash to get them to include it?

Probably due the severe lack of content and discs at this stage. I'd imagine the cost-benefit wasn't worth the additional cost and incremental higher cost they'd have to charge. I'd imagine it'll come soon enough.

I look forward to the PS5 Casual or the Xbone Two Lowest Common Denominator.

I expect 4K Blu-ray drive would add significant cost to the console. Depending on how long the cycle is I wouldn't be surprised if a few years down the road a PS4 Pro slim would come with one. The PS4 is decent enough looking but Sony took that too far with the PS4 Pro which looks like some sort of temple or something. Looks silly.

I'm a pretty ridiculous early adopter of a lot of tech. But even 4K Blu rya is pretty early to even bother. Right now, there's something like a grand total of 50 or 60 disks out there (including preorders) on Amazon. Very little reason for them to include a drive and have consumers pay the additional cost in just a few months.

At least a few years yet before the cost benefit makes sense.

It may not end up being a big deal given that things are headed towards streaming but its still seems like something is missing when you push something as a "Pro" line and then exclude what will be the go to new format in the coming years, especially given your competitor includes it in their latest revision.

Perhaps not a deal breaker but its made me think twice. Now even if I got the PS Pro I'd have to buy another device for 4K blu ray if I ever wanted to use them.

The other question I do have is how different games will actually be. Will NHL17 for example play better on a Pro than a regular console?

Will be interesting to see what reactions are like when people get a chance to use it.

Yea, I don't get why this is the thing peole are complaining about. I own zero 4k blu rays. I have a 4k tv, and regular blu rays look great on it. For the cost, I can't see the upgrade being worth it.

I guess for current PS4 owners you get HDR support with a upcoming firmware upgrade. I think that's more significant than playing games at 4K. I'd rather have a PS4 Pro that plays 1080p60 than 4K30.

Slightly underwhelming, thought I'd see a bit more. But games run pretty, so that's a plus.

Tomb Raider is going to support both 1080p@60fps and 4k@30 on the PS4 Pro, you get to choose which resolution you want to push. I imagine other games will follow this trend.

Tomb Raider just has an unlocked framerate mode at 1080p that can vary depending on bottlenecks.

Good article by Digital Foundry with their hands on impressions of the PS4 Pro.

It sounds like if you have a PS4 already it's not worth upgrading to the Pro unless you have a 4K UHD TV.

Sitting 10 to 15 feet away, I don't think my eyes are even good enough to see the difference between 1080p and 4k to be honest.

I think if I'm a good boy, I'll treat myself to a 4k ultra wide monitor for my PC, but that's about it.

My 1080p TV and PS4 are good enough for the next few years for me.

With PSVR coming, I anticipate barely using my TV anymore, let alone upgrading it.
