You can shop him all you want - he’s indicated a willingness to play ball. Teams can have their chance to court him. And Nashville had the exact same chance with Saros and they didn’t bite either. Ullmark - the price goes up even higher. I could see lots of teams interested: Colorado, Toronto, Edmonton, spring to mind.
People are setting a totally artificial deadline to trade Markstrom. Maybe the price won’t be as good. But there’s no use being pushed around at this point with one suitor.

What does a NJ/Markstrom trade look like in the summer and why does it work then but not now.

Said above.
More teams in the mix, less salary cap complications/more time to sort them, more clarity post-playoffs for those who feel that goaltending held them back.
Pressure isn’t everything unless you’re thinking Markstrom’s entire value is predicated on a team making a mistake. Even then, there’s the pressure of the summer goaltending game of musical chairs ending and be left without a goaltender.
He’s signed for two more years at a reasonable cap hit and the Flames could retain.

With NJ moving on from Toffoli, you'd think there would perhaps be an appetite for a blockbuster package of Markstrom and Mangiapane. With a boatload of retention to go along with it.

Markstrom will still be one of, if not the, premier goalie available to acquire. Fitz could be under the gun to fix his goaltending issues as the Devils should not be a team missing the playoffs with their roster. Missing the POs again next year because of poor goaltending should mean someone is losing their job.

Devils miss POs, Fitz fired, new GM makes goaltending THE priority.

All of this posturing and using of the media is rather comical. Frustrating af, but comical.

Both Jersey and LA have already fired the coaches and have shoddy goaltending. If the GMs are still there in the summer getting a decent goalie might be the last big move they can make to save their jobs.

So? Darryl Sutter got an extension and a raise, and was gone before the extension even started.

They might realize a younger goalie fits their window a little better and won't cost them assets. Or also realize Markstrom is about as bipolar as it gets which is why I hope we can ship him out while he's on a high.

He was promoted to president of hockey operations. When has someone been promoted and fired 5 months later ?
I mean I agree he should be fired.

I agree, he won't be fired, not impossible though.
