would suck to have a night session ticket and just wander around

might as well find a bar to watch this match.

The US Open really sucks at scheduling some times. At the rate these two are going it will probably be 9ET or later before the night session actually begins. Unless Lopez lays down for Federer, the Keys/Vesnina match could start as late as midnight.

I read a guy on twitter say he's got a night session ticket tonight and a day session ticket tomorrow. He's not going home.

But seriously. Why three day session matches on Ashe, each deliberately spread out?

Wimbledon and French is 1 ticket you get all matches day or night. They don't split it like capitalist US and Australia

Mayer letting the umpire know what he thinks about a lack of time warnings on Nadal.

Why did they start this match so late? There was never any chance of Federer starting on time. Best case scenario he'd be an hour late. Looks more like it'll be two. What were they thinking?

This match was originally scheduled to start at 7 EST. It started two hours and forty minutes late. That's absurd. Great job, USTA.

Well, at least they have a roof now or there would be no matches being played as it's raining cats and dogs.

Yeah, it's just annoying as it was unnecessary.

Anyway, this is clearly the best Federer has looked of the three matches he's played. This is more or less what you expect from him on a slow hard court, which bodes well. Maybe the poor play he showed in rounds 1 and 2 really were the result of poor preparation as Roger insisted.

Lopez isn't playing badly, it's just that Indoorerer (stolen from the Senator) is in the groove.

I don't even get what the Indoorerer nickname is intended to say. Obviously he's also the best ever outdoors; he's won 8 Wimbledon titles and grass is his best surface. The main differences indoors are the lack of wind and sun, which only serve as equalizers to give less skilled players a better chance, so if that benefits Federer, it's because he's better at tennis. So is that supposed to be a criticism?

Cause his home tournament in Basel in indoors

Edit: Also it comes from the Federer-Nadal rivalry. I believe Nadal has beaten Federer 2/3rds of the time lifetime but has never beaten him indoors, or beaten him maybe once.

The World Tour finals is the only thing missing in Nadals resume and it's been Fed and Djoker who have denied him each time. It's always played indoors and as a Rafa fan I would rather he win that than the US Open.

Indoorer is because his biggest weapon, the serve, becomes even more dominant inside when there's ideal, perfect conditions. He basically becomes unbreakable. I don't even think he served that well last night despite what the commentators were saying, he was still in the low-to-mid 50s in first serve % which, for Roger, is not good. But for the first time all tournament the movement looked crisp and the aggressiveness at coming forward was much better.

As far as Denis today, really feels like it's important to get off to a good start and get the energy level up early, an 11am crowd is going to be dead so the worst thing is to get behind and have no crowd energy to feed off of. But I expect another four set win like it was on Friday.

Crowd might not be too bad. It's pouring outside and people might come in if they have a ticket.
