I'm at work, and will be probably most of the evenings this week, but I did confirm that the new series meets my most basic expectation:

Speculation spoiler based on comic books

That would be incredible.

The second episode was excellent. They really brought the series forward without making it a pure nostalgia trip.

Morph is a great character I just wish he didn't cycle through other X-Men look when he fights, it kind of lightens when/if they actually arrive. Thought that was Archangel for a minute.

This show is such a nostalgia trip in the best way.

I was fully ready to "um, ackshually" the Nathan Summers birth until the end of that episode. That's awesome they did that. And while the "Storm loses her powers by getting shot" circumstances are obviously different it seems pretty clear that they're doing a bunch more Claremont stuff. Based on the way things are going and the part of the intro with Morph, I'm guessing we're about to get some
Spoiler!

My only complaint is Rogue sounds like an old woman. The voice actress is the same as before so that makes sense but...

She's lost some of the depth in her voice. It's likely been a long time since she did that accent. I wonder if she finds that accent if she gets a chance to do it longer.

Clearly if humanity wants to be saves we need to eliminate most of the American South.

Humans, Mutants...kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out!

She's 64 years old and a former Member of Parliament. And it's not an easy voice to do. I am honestly surprised they didn't find someone else. It's not really bothering me but it is noticeable.

The weird thing is, they did recast Jean Grey (to Jennifer Hale who is GOAT status VA) but the original voice actor for her is in the show in another role apparently, and I have to assume that's as a result of not being able to do Jean anymore, so if they were willing to do it for her, why not Rogue?

Its interesting that the entire original cast was Canadian based. The original VA for Gambit was Chris Potter (Kung Fu the Legend Continues) and he is in the show too apparently but not as Gambit.

The original Magneto was the late great David Hemblen who was in many Canadian productions as well as Captain Power as Lord Dredd.

I was given to understand that the reason behind it was some difference in the union rules or something that allowed them to avoid paying as much or maybe just not getting a residuals check or something.

This is correct I believe. The Canadian actors got no residuals so most of the cast was Canadian.

Storm had 3 actresses. A white woman, who they realized was a bad idea, recast her to a black woman who was eligible residuals whose voice only aired on first run, so they re-recorded it again with a 3rd actress for all reruns and dvd releases. Or something crazy like that.

It was, infact, about saving money!

Jean Grey's voice actress is Val Cooper now.

Haven't noticed Chris Potter yet.

So you're saying that the Strike solved nothing?

Unfortunate since Cable's oh voice was great. Another case of apparently in the show but doing new voices.

The one upside to the Canadian cast was getting Kor, Dahar Master, as Apocalypse. Still the voice I think of when reading that character in comics.

I went through the first two episodes and was pleasantly surprised.

I really don't have any trust in the Disney-machine anymore, but thought these first two episodes were pretty fun. Definitely pulls the nostalgia strings a good deal.
