There's definitely a distinction to be made between
scores and
soundtracks. I tend not to think of the latter much either.
With respect to scores, John Williams is the undisputed GOAT, and I think his magnum opus was
The Empire Strikes Back. That said, people would probably argue
Schindler's List is better.
