Considered going with a Russian but going with Pollock as he has bounce back potential and if he bounces back he's back in good prospect territory.

Pollock probably has a <1% chance of making the NHL. The Flames hold the rights to Rafikov and Karnaukhov for a long time. I like the chances of them coming over to the NHL in a few years more than a 21 year old that struggles in the ECHL.

Rafikov for me. I would say he is a 'do everything' kind of defencemen - capable at moving the puck, good skater, decent shot, good defensively and he enjoys the physical/agitating part of the game. Some people may not like him based on the fact that he may never come over, and that probably has impacted where I myself have picked him, but I think he is unquestionably a talented defencemen.
This is no easy task selecting someone here. Mattson has top 6 potential - and fairly high-end potential at that given his size and tools. North Dakota is a great place for him to go and and develop over time. If he ever realizes his potential, I can see the posts of: "Where did we get this kid from?".
Schneider is a good goalie prospect. People may think he had a bad season and lost his stater spot because of some type of regression, but the truth of the matter is that he was ill and lost weight, and was never able to get back into a rhythm. His compete level is second only to Parsons organizationally. I really like this kid, and have him ranked ahead of MacDonald personally.
Karnaukhov has a tonne of talent and a fairly big frame as well. I like that he is plying his trade in the VHL/KHL now. He was willing to come to Calgary to play Junior, and I am guessing he would be willing to come back to the NHL here in time. Lots of players develop really well in the KHL as we have seen over the years, so I like that he is there and think of him as a longer-term project.
Pollock for me is the last guy on my list. I have just never really been impressed much by his game or his tool-set. Now, that isn't totally bad, for as much as I don't think much of him as a prospect, I do think that he is a legitimate prospect with NHL potential down the road. I just don't see a particular strength with this kid - he is big, but doesn't use it enough. He isn't particularly a fast skater, or uses his edges well enough. He doesn't shoot well enough. Doesn't have the vision or playmaking ability to make his team mates better. He doesn't have any form of consistency in his game. Still, he is not horrible at anything, or have some huge weakness to his game that makes me think that this kid will never make it. I just don't see too much there.

Schneider. Goalies are a mystery box. At this point I go with mystery box.

Being the youngest guy left on the list, Mattson will be interesting to follow, but he clearly has a long way to go. He was last in points per game of the drafted forwards playing the USHL last year. Even for players that aren't billed as offensive dynamo's, it is nice to see some level of point production in the lower leagues.
I'm still holding out hope for Rafikov. If he continues to develop, 3 years from now he could be a cheap stopgap (assuming the Flames can't afford UFA Brodie).
The Russian Olympic/World Cup defence corps isn't particularly deep. It'll be interesting to see if he cracks the national team in the next few years. That is my bellwether for him as I don't watch the KHL. If he hasn't made the team by age 25 or so, that's when I'll write him off.

I'm a big believer in running these summer poll series right down to the final two standing because I truly want that ranking beside every player in the team's system.
2013 had Ferland and 26th and Ortio at 30th
2014 had Jooris at 35th and Hickey at 23rd
2015 Ollas Mattson at 26th and Mangiapane at 21st
2016 even last year we had Rittich at 31st
Someone on this 2017 list is going to move a long way up. Good to have a number assigned to him when we are all proven to be idiots.
If I was to guess on the guy I'd go with Healey

Voted Pollock. I can't vote for the Russians, I don't think they'll ever come over here.
