So, with the Flames picking Valimaki, I guess this is unlikely to happen now(Hamonic). Demers could be a cheap target I guess..

Another phoney rumour that got everyone's hopes up.
Just another bland draft day.

What makes it a phoney rumour?
Numerous sources confirmed the talks, and also the fact that NYI wants two 1sts. Can't complain Treliving didn't cave and pay that.

I second this. Should be able to get Kulikov at a decent price also.

Funny how Ari was pumping Hamonic's tires in 2015:

"Here’s the deal: Hamonic is a very good player. He plays in the Islanders’ toughest situations, and he’s a positive possession player."
Ari definitely relies on advanced stats to a silly degree.

He hit legendary status amongst western Canadian teams when it was announced that he would like to get traded out this way. That pretty much never happens for western Canada so he was elevated to god like status amongst desired defensemen out here.

I personally think Kulikov is going to get a ridiculous contract from someone.
But then again, I am also the guy that wants Radulov.

Dreger mentions Flames and Leafs specifically as still being interested in trading for Travis Hamonic, but that neither team is interested enough to do two first round draft picks. Dreger and the panel still believe Hamonic gets traded, possibly for a "1st round draft pick ++" but not two firsts.

I really hope that Brad is able to pay a reasonable price for Hamonic, but I'd be fine with someone from Minnesota, too.

Agreed. I would love for Brad to pull a rabbit out of his hat and somehow land Dumba. Heck, they also have Niederreiter and Pominville, both players that could help our RW. I think there is some potential there for a trade, but it just depends what Minnesota would want in return.

If we can land Hamonic for the 2018 1st round pick + some of our mid-range prospects, I'll be overjoyed.
