Makes the finalist snub a little easier to swallow if he was at least next in line. Has the reputation now, another season like last and he probably wins it

Damn, just missed out on a free trip to Vegas.

Three first place votes, so we know how many Calgary-based voters there were.

A distant 4th I guess, but he finished ahead of some big names for a reputation based award.

The voting is completely messed when Toews has an awful season and still garners 5 1st place votes by reputation alone.

Pretty easy to read who Spector gave his 1st place vote to...

Not when you have Bergeron and Kesler in the league. Backlund is good but not on their level defensively or offensively.

I know Toews had an off year, but awards go largely by reputation. The fact that Backlund finished ahead of Toews in the voting says to me that, not only did he garner the recognition that he deserved, but he would have easily been top three if had a prior track record of his own.

Is there anyone outside of Minnesota that thinks that Koivu had a better year than Backlund? (yes, I know people voted for Koivu but again, reputation)

Yes he is.

And offense shouldn't matter when it comes to this trophy anyways.

He's as good defensively as Kesler and Bergeron? Not a chance.

How does McDavid even get votes for this award? Absolutely laughable and he is even ahead of Barkov there.

Koivu really did have a good season. I really don't have a problem with it as that's how I would rank them.

Pretty impressive he beat out Toews. Would have liked to see Backlund in the top 3 but can't argue that Bergeron, Kesler, and Koivu also had great seasons.

He's been the best at takeaways in the league by a pretty large margin over the last few years, I don't think he's that great defensively overall besides that.
