I for one would be ok if my taxes went up a few dollars to buy those inmates a couple steak dinner meals and some extra comfy slippers.

I guess the other inmates were waiting for the judicial system to work through the process and determine guilt before they acted. Nice to see their belief in how the system works.

Im guessing guards intentionally let him be in contact with other inmates.

General Pop inmates would of been wanting to get at this guy for a while. It's very likely that guards were extra careful during his trial because if something happened like this during it could potentially disrupt the case and be big trouble if they "accidentally" mingled inmates that shouldn't be together. Very likely now with his guilt certain and his case over with a guard decided to let a button get pressed by accident to allow something like this. I'm sure many here would be heavily inclined to do the same as well. Unfortunately he'll be going to Maximum security where he'll be put on a unit with many others who've commited terrible things on children and are housed together on segregated units. Years from now when they try to sneak him into medium security jails and probably with a new name will be when things like this start to happen to him again. I doubt this will be the only time that these kinds of attacks happen against him.

It's the remand, inmates are with other inmates. That's totally normal.

A high profile inmate like this would be on unit 9 their administrative segregation unit. It's very likely his entire time in remand he's never come in contact with another inmate until now.

He was not segregated prior to trial.

Very surprising as many people with much less heinous crimes are usually ad segged. Do you work at CRC?

It is a direct remark from his family.

It's already been said he has been in general population before.

There is no way he was in general population. A protective custody unit that is open maybe where the inmates are out together. But there's no chance he was on 1,2,5 or 6 he would be stretchered out before the days end.

Do people think every heinous criminal is segregated? There are some pretty awful scumbags in the remand from racists to pedohphiles to child abusers to child killers. They can't segregate every one and thankfully they don't.

Where can I read this? I'd be very interested to hear otherwise. I don't think the family would be a good source on that kind of information either. Not that I work at CRC or can confirm otherwise. But from my experience there is almost no way he wouldn't be on unit 9 there which is ad seg.

Yes I do any one in the news on a sex or child related crime is garaunteed to be at the minimum on one of he protective custody units. I'm sure people with no publicity slip through the cracks however. They are very careful on who they mix at remand.Even gang members are seperated based upon their affiliations by different units. They have entire jobs at the remand who's sole purpose is knowing who can mix or not.

Edit- also unit 9 is a unit where each inmate is allowed out singularily for an hour a day and then locked into their cell for the rest and they rotate the inmates out. It isn't a huge obstacle for them to do so.

Ya, quite likely we are talking about scum bags beating up another scum bag. Remand likely isn't a bunch of Con Air Nic Cage's only in prison for defeding the wife's honor. Might have beaten him up for his heinous crimes, or simply because he is so high profile

I tend to think that Garland being beaten on the day of his conviction was forseeable and could have been easily prevented. I won't shed a tear for him being beaten, but also would have to agree that something went wrong to allow it to happen. If you run the institution you'd have to be concerned about this.

If I ran the institution I'm paying out a nice bonus to the guards who helped facilitate the beating.
