Haha. Don't people know what show they are listening to on CBC?

I love "This is That". Funny how many people get tricked.

Calgary does charge parking fees for bikes in many locations, and the biggest issue is that there are not enough of them.

The real joke is how some communities may get switched into Chu's ward with the proposed boundary changes. Poor suckers.

On the bike lanes front, I am pretty sure that usage has only marginally increased. When I lived in Copenhagen, the bike traffic basically matched the vehicle traffic. Here, you are fortunate to see 3-4 bikers stacked up at a light.

Wait, so there wasn't an instant cultural change?

Perhaps these things take time.

... perhaps.

This is not Copenhagen. They have had years to develop their bike lanes, we just started. I've been cycling the 12th Ave lane during rush hours and i'm quite surprised with the number of cyclists taking advantage. It's absolutely fantastic for the city.

Ya, that's me On the plus side, the phone calls and mailers I got from him last election will actually be relevant this time! I'm not sure he knew where his boundaries were.

I'm more amazed that Sean Chu listens to CBC. I had him down as a CJAY man.

Whoa. @seanchucalgary just called city's bike data "garbage." Transportation GM Mac Logan calls him out. Chu backs down. Apologizes. #yyccc

But there was all the pent up demand of people just waiting to cycle should the infrastructure ever exist. Well guess what.

Been taking a course this week on 8th ave, haven't seen a single person use the bike lanes during that time. I'm sure my anecdote isn't very accurate, but I wonder if we're getting good value out of spending money clearing them in the winter.

I use the 7th street one every day, twice a day. I always see a couple other cyclists on them. When I go for lunch and walk along 8th I often see bikes. If the bike lanes aren't plowed, I'd be forced to ride in traffic, probably pissing off everyone.

My alley gets sanded and plowed. Is that good value?

You must live somewhere fancy. They don't even sand or plow the side streets in most neighbourhoods.

I don't. I suspect they plow it for the garbage trucks, as it is on a hill, and they do it almost every Wednesday(garbage day is Thursday).

Here's an article on the latest Chu outburst.

As an aside, I think we should rename the thread to WHAT CHU TALKIN BOUT?
