I like these types of polling stations the best.

Had the CPC scrutineer laser locked on me this morning. Kinda looked like Dick Cheney, wordlessly stared at everything I did while I was at the polling station. That was a first for me.

And the bonus is you get to pick the political minds of Tiffani and Champayne before you vote.

Yah you only need 3 consecutive hours to vote, so close up early everyone!

I could think of better things to be doing with Tiffani and Champayne than picking their brains.

I just got a text from Mrs. Puppet that said my youngest popped the ballot in the election box. I misread it and thought she said my youngest *pooped* in the election box. Talk about a spoiled ballot...

That's what you'd call a hanging chad.

Ontario and Quebec polls are open until 9:30. So they close simultaneous with the prairies at 7:30 MST.

So, in Mountain time, here's the poll closures:
Newfoundland: 5:00
Atlantic Canada: 5:30
Quebec, Ontario, Prairies: 7:30
BC: 8:00

Also of note, results in Atlantic Canada won't really influence the outcome of the election too much. Everyone is predicting a massive Liberal sweep in that region. The election hinges on Quebec and especially Ontario, though, and there's a chance we won't know if we have a minority or majority until the results from BC come in.

That said, Saint John-Rothesay is a riding to watch and could be an early bellwether. The Conservatives should be re-elected there, but if the Liberals pick up that seat, it might be an early indicator for how the vote will break elsewhere in the country.

The Conservatives would likely have a new leader and have money in the bank. They wouldn't be afraid of another election, especially if someone else forced it, so they likely play hardball. I don't see the NDP having much influence

I guess the NDPer who said they would support a CPC minority was predictably "misquoted". What he meant was he'd accept support from the CPC to prop up a NDP minority, because that of course is the most likely of scenarios.

A Liberal/NDP coalition to gain power might be distasteful, but it's close enough ideologically to not be something unusual. A CPC/NDP coalition? That'd be pretty ####ed up I'm sure you'd agree.
No I don't think there is much difference at all between an agreement between the LP/NDP or CPC/NDP to pass legislation. There are enough similarities in all policies to see where it would make sense, or where some horse trading could be done.

If the Liberal and NDP parties are 85% identical... why have two parties? I strongly disagree with that assumption!

Same reason there was a Reform and PCP. Eventually, they will have to merge.

They only have to merge if representation in government is not proportional to votes cast.
