Kings played last night...check.
LA in scoring slump.......check.
Kings dress back up......check.
Darryl Sutter first time back as a STANLEY CUP CHAMP.
Too unpredictable to pick the winner.

My first game of the year. I was hoping to see Baertschi, but I guess I'll have to buy tickets for another game. My 7 year old son is super excited to see the Flames play the Stanley Cup Champs.
Given the size of the Flames I wouldn't mind having Penner on the team right now... and I'm not a fan of Mr. Pancake.
I think it will be a breakout game for both team's offense. 10-8 Flames, after being down 8-0. A classic 1980s barn burner. Iginla gets 4 points, but no goals. Cammalleri becomes the new go to guy with a 6 goal effort though. Blake Comeau gets the other 4 goals, then promptly traded after the game to Columbus for a 3rd liner and a 1st round pick and doesn't score again for the rest of the season. Flames and Columbus finish 29 and 30, but since Calgary has Columbus' pick, they pick MacKinnon and Jones.... dilemma solved.

D Sutter did some great things for this franchise. He should be honoured for that. That week of insanity killed us though.
Not to de-rail this thread, but as much as i hated the Olli/ Prust trade, Sutter knew how Higgins should have evolved his game. Sutter thought it was best that he become a 3rd line gritty player that could score some goals. He told him that after the season and offered him a contract. Higgins did not see himself like that at the time, and went to Florida who promised him top 6 playing time. Now with Vancouver Higgins is a 3rd line gritty player that plays the role very well. We could really use a player like Higgins right now.
Granted just keeping Prust would have been good.

I honestly don't care if we win or not, but since I am going to the game and have decent tickets, I hope for an exciting game!
7-5 for either team

Bernier first goalie off the ice for the @L_A_Kings, likely going to get the call after Quick posts a 3-1 win in EDM last night. #NHL

Not surprising . If Bernier was hurt on the road trip and they called up a goalie from the AHL, he would probably get the start. Teams play their backups when facing the flames. Really shows what the rest of the league thinks of the flames.

Are you saying that since the flames have Glencross, they don't need another gritty player?

Could be the only home game I get to see all year.... Go to school in Edmonton so seeing the boys in Red is a real treat! Hoping for a big game out of the Czech line!
Flames 3 LA 1

I predict that Iggy will be centered by Tim Jackman tonight.

Teams tend to play backups on the 2nd half of back to backs. If it was LA-CGY last night we see Quick and the Oil see Bernier. If they play Vancouver one of the 2 games well then we are likely to see the backup Van has been a top team in the west for a few years now and we have been on the bubble

Yeah, I see the Kings choking out the Flames 3-0. A team who's very strong down the middle is a matchup disaster for the Flames. Type of night where the Flames may only muster 5 scoring chances. The type of hockey we didn't hate when Sutter had the Flames playing it pretty consistantly for a couple years.

The Oilers get Quick and we get Bernier?
