The last quarter of 2016 they added 7 million new users and expecting another 5+ the first quarter this year.

Remember in 2011 when everyone thought they were going to die because they separated their physical media subscriptions from the streaming? Should have bought stock at that point (~ $15-16).

Blockbuster had the chance to buy Netflix for $50 million in 2010. They might be the stupidest company to exist.
Was in 2000 actually.

In 2000, Netflix offered to be acquired by Blockbuster for $50 million, but the offer was declined.[20] Netflix initiated an initial public offering (IPO) on May 29, 2002, selling 5.5 million shares of common stock at the price of US$15.00 per share.
I don't think it was a terrible turn down by Blockbuster at that time. If it was in 2010 they certainly would be the dumbest company ever.

I certainly didn't guess Netflix's strategy to become a content creator would be so successful.

In fairness, even if they'd bought Netflix I have ultimate faith that Blockbuster would have found a way to screw it up.

Didn't the studios and TV networks force their hand on that? They wouldn't license content, so Netflix said, "screw you guys, we will make our own."

Net Neutrality being dismantled may be a harbinger of bad things for Netflix. If internet providers can charge you for access to it, business will hurt big time

For sure, I think it's one of the reason's the added 130 countries last year. They need to diversify markets so they're not as dependant on the US. Though that's a big chunk of change for them.

For sure. Like having your DVDs delivered to a central retail location where you could buy overpriced snacks as you picked up/dropped off your envelopes. And selling off any streaming tech to Cineplex.

Season 3 of Bloodline releases Friday May 26th. One of my favourite Netflix shows.

hmm there seems to be a glitch where everything is rated 3 red stars, which means as an indecisive Libra, I can't make a decision on what to watch. Maybe the new thumb rating system is coming in.

"Age of Resistance" is pulled right off the top of the 'generic, vague, bad' sub-titles pile.

I'm two episodes into Season 1 because of this recommendation. I'll blame you for ruining my long weekend if I binge all two seasons with this gorgeous weather.

Season 1 was better than 2 in my books. Titus is wearing thin, but I stay for Kimmy.

Sarah Silverman special comes out at the end of the month. Hopefully it is good. I like Silverman sometimes.

Watched the Norm MacDonald standup show. Gotta say it was pretty disappointing. I laughed more watching a random 90 minutes of his podcast on Youtube.

The Girl With All the Gifts is out on Netflix. I haven't seen it yet, but the book was great and it's 84% on RT, so might be worth a watch.

I watched Hasan Minhaj's Netflix special tonight and it was exceptional. I loved it. The story, the jokes, the delivery. Everything was awesome. It is easily one of my favorite shows.
